Epic Beaker Analyst
Schedule: Day Shift. 40 hours weekly. 8:00am - 5:00pm

About the Position
Responsible for design, analysis, testing, installation, and support activities for Epic related information system solutions as required that are developed or acquired as part of the overall hospital network of integrated computer systems. Incumbents must be able to help and consultation to enterprise departments, with system application issues, and serve as technical coordinator between departments and any outside vendors. In depth knowledge of Epic software is obtained by attending Epic training with completion of application certification projects and tests. Training may be onsite at Verona, Wisconsin or virtually from the office.
Overview of Responsibilities
  • Completes assigned Epic certifications, training, projects, and testing.
  • Works closely with our other EHR Certified Analysts for assigned applications.
  • Completes Epic related tasks assigned by supervisor.
  • Provides technical subject matter expertise and business process knowledge to project teams analyzing systemic or process issues within assigned areas.
  • Provides input on alternative solutions ensuring the project team is fully educated on required effort, technical constraints, and impacts to existing system stability.
  • Assists departments / project teams in defining requirements for new systems.
  • Assists project manager in development of project plans focusing on technical work requirements and effort.
  • Participates in vendor selection process including demonstrations and functional comparison activities.
  • Completes appropriate departmental pre-purchase checklists and documentation.
  • Provides input into contract / statement of work for new systems / functionality in supported areas.
  • Provides input to design team in development of updated process diagrams, screen layouts, and any other elements of the design as defined by the project team.
  • Writes design specifications.
  • Completes system build / development tasks based on design specifications.
  • Completes unit testing of system components validating accuracy of build as defined by specifications.
  • Participates in testing using test scripts to validate business processes.
  • Participates in development and validation of training material.
  • Participates in training sessions ensuring appropriate knowledge transfer to end users.
  • Participates in go-live events providing support, training, and troubleshooting assistance to deployment teams.
  • Provides technical support to system end users functioning as the primary resource for managing and resolving system issues.
  • Maintains software for assigned systems at supportable levels and communicates available updates and enhancements to end users.
  • Monitors incident tickets and provides timely resolution of same.
  • Maintains detailed system documentation reflecting system architecture, security, and other requirements as defined in documentation templates.
  • Leads analysis of current state.
  • Develops alternative solutions and leads teams through analysis.
  • Develops project plans for small to medium implementations / upgrades.
  • Coordinates vendor selection activities.
  • Leads system design teams ensuring all business processes are addressed within specifications.
  • Develops comprehensive test plans that cover organizational business processes affected by implementation.
  • Coordinates cross-functional integrated testing managing schedules, organizing staff, and tracking issues.
  • Participates in coordination of go-live event developing detailed plan and coordinating resources.
  • Participates in change management activities for assigned systems.
  • Coordinates optimization activities proactively identifying improvements that allow end users to function more effectively.
  • Communicates successfully at all levels of the organization.
  • Functions independently executing assignments with minimal oversight.
  • Participates in implementations having high complexity / organizational visibility.
  • Keeps abreast of current industry developments and trends.
  • Advises supervisor of progress on projects and any key issues.
  • Understands the Quality Assurance and Improvement Plan and participates in department activities as requested.
  • Perform other assignments as specified by supervisor.
  • Work independently of any consulting services other than the Epic Technical Service.
  • Coordinates change management, optimization, activities for assigned systems.
  • Coordinates requests requiring cross-functional teams for resolution.

Epic Specific Application Information:
Laboratory
This position includes certification in Beaker. The Laboratory Analyst is responsible for the configuration of the application to meet the needs of the Laboratory functions and workflows. Prior experience in Laboratory workflows including a solid understanding of CLIA, CAP, and regulatory compliance requirements. This position includes responsibility for Laboratory 3rd party applications including Mobilab, GemWeb, and RALS.

Education & Experience
  • Two to three years' experience with Information technology application development, training, and implementation in a healthcare setting.
  • Laboratory Technician experience preferred
