Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Telemetry/Progressive Care Unit position requiring 2 years of recent Critical Care/ICU or ED experience and a KS or Compact RN license.

Details
  • Progressive Care/Telemetry unit within a hospital setting
  • Patient ratios of 3:1 or 4:1
  • Cares for open-heart Day 2 or Day 3 patients with pacer wires
  • Performs procedures including BiPAP management, chest tube care, and PICC line management
  • Responsible for drawing own labs, calling own consults, and conducting own codes without a dedicated vascular access team
  • Uses Epic EMR
  • 12-hour night shifts, 1900-0730, three shifts per week
  • Every other weekend required
  • No on-call requirements
  • Floating required to ICU, Med/Surg, Med/Tele, Acute/Tele, and ED based on prior experience
Requirements
  • Active KS RN license or Compact RN license required
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale certifications required
  • Minimum 2 years of recent Critical Care/ICU or Emergency Department experience required
  • Strong critical thinking skills required
  • Experience with BiPAP, chest tubes, and PICC lines required
  • Comfortable working independently without a vascular access team, initiating own consults, and conducting own codes
  • Open-heart Day 2 or Day 3 experience with pacer wires preferred
  • CBC, drug screen, and lab work must be completed within 72 hours of offer acceptance

  • Facility is a nicotine-free environment
  • Holiday coverage required for one holiday from each group: Thanksgiving Eve or Day, Christmas Eve or Day, and New Year's Eve or Day
  • Orientation includes multiple days at different campus locations along with Director of Nursing training and virtual Epic training
  • Accepts both local and travel candidates at the same bill rate
