Job description

Med/Surg Registered Nurse (RN)

We are seeking an experienced Med/Surg RN to provide high-quality patient care in a fast-paced acute care hospital setting. The ideal candidate will have strong clinical skills, experience working in large hospital environments, and the ability to manage a diverse patient population with varying medical and surgical conditions.

Responsibilities:
• Provide comprehensive nursing care for adult Med/Surg patients
• Perform patient assessments, care planning, medication administration, and ongoing monitoring
• Manage IV therapy, feeding tubes, chest tubes, wound vacs, insulin/heparin drips, and telemetry monitoring
• Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to ensure quality patient outcomes
• Document patient care accurately using Epic EMR
• Float to other medical units based on facility needs
• Maintain patient safety and follow hospital protocols and standards

Patient Population Includes:
• Chronic illnesses such as COPD, CHF, Diabetes, ESRD
• GI disorders including pancreatitis, GI bleeding, and inflammatory bowel disease
• Infections such as pneumonia, cellulitis, sepsis, and UTI
• Neurological and mental health conditions including stroke, dementia, anxiety, and depression
• Post-procedure and minor surgical recovery patients

Requirements:
• Minimum 1.5 years of Level 1, Level 2, or tertiary care experience required
• Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg experience in a 600+ bed hospital required
• Active IN RN License or Compact RN License required
• BLS certification through AHA required
• Epic charting experience preferred

Schedule & Additional Details:
• 12-hour shifts
• Every other weekend / 3 weekend shifts in a 4-week period
• Patient ratio: 1:5-6
• Floating required only within medical units
• Caribbean Blue scrubs required
• Orientation includes hospital orientation, nursing orientation, and Epic training
