Job description

Job Description:

ENT and Allergy Associates (ENTA), one of the nation's largest ENT, Allergy, and Audiology medical practices, is seeking a full time IT Field Technician for our Long Island office locations.

Hourly: $26/hour

The IT Field Technician serves as the primary on-site technical resource for all end-user computing needs across ENTA's locations. In addition to traditional field support responsibilities, this role takes an expanded, hands-on ownership of Epic EHR end-user device readiness, deployment, and go-live support - acting as the critical bridge between the IT infrastructure team and Epic application teams. This technician is expected to develop familiarity with Epic workflows, peripheral integrations, and site-specific hardware configurations to serve as a trusted resource for clinical and administrative staff.

Responsibilities Include but are not Limited to the Following:

Field Support and Operational Management:

  • Travel to all remote office and clinic locations to provide hands-on technical support
  • Perform desktop-level fixes including software installation/upgrades, hardware replacement, and system configuration
  • Execute preventative maintenance on workstations, printers, mobile cars, and peripherals
  • Field, document, prioritize, and resolve end-user help requests via phone, email, and ticketing systems
  • Escalate complex issues to senior technicians or application specialists as appropriate
  • Perform post-resolution follow-ups to ensure sustained problem resolution
  • Apply diagnostic utilities and leverage knowledge bases to aid in troubleshooting

Epic EHR - End User Device Ownership:

  • Serve as the field-level owner for all end-user devices supporting the Epic EHR implementation, including workstations, thin clients, mobile carts, printers, scanners, and peripherals
  • Conduct on-site assessments at each go-live location to evaluate current hardware state and perform gap analysis against Epic workflow requirements
  • Coordinate hardware procurement, staging, deployment, and testing in alignment with Epic project timelines
  • Participate in Technical Dress Rehearsals (TDR) to validate all Epic-facing hardware and peripheral configurations; track and resolve issues to closure
  • Maintain and update end-user device project plans, trackers, and go-live readiness logs
  • Coordinate with Epic application project managers to ensure peripherals, storage, and hardware meet testing and production needs
  • Act as a liaison between the IT infrastructure team and Epic application team for all device-related topics
  • Develop proficiency in Epic end-user workflows relevant to field support (login, printing, device pairing, single sign-on via Imprivata, peripheral configuration)
  • Provide first-line Epic technical triage at go-live sites, distinguishing between application issues and device/infrastructure issues
  • Support end users during training, testing, and activation periods with device and connectivity troubleshooting
  • Collaborate with Epic application analysts to document and resolve site-specific device compatibility issues
  • Maintain awareness of Epic upgrade cycles and assist with device readiness validation prior to upgrades

Inventory and Asset Management

  • Conduct thorough, accurate hardware inventory assessments across all assigned locations
  • Maintain up-to-date records in the organization's ITSM/asset management platform
  • Identify and report hardware aging or lifecycle risks, particularly for Epic-critical devices

Position Requirements

Knowledge & Experience

  • 3+ years of experience supporting PC systems, peripherals, and enterprise software in a multi-site environment
  • Associate's Degree or higher in Information Technology or a related field
  • Proficiency with Windows 10/11 operating systems and Microsoft 365
  • Experience with enterprise endpoint management tools (Intune, ConnectWise, Automate, or equivalent)
  • Familiarity with EHR systems - Epic experience strongly preferred
  • Experience with single sign-on solutions (Imprivata OneSign is a plus)
  • Experience with Monday.com
  • Experience with Cisco Meraki
  • CompTIA A+ Certification preferred; Network+ or equivalent is a plus
  • Valid driver's license, reliable transportation required for multi-site travel

Personal Attributes

  • Highly organized with strong project management instincts; capable of managing multiple concurrent site deployments
  • Exceptional communicator - able to convey technical concepts to clinical and non-technical audiences
  • Self-motivated and comfortable working independently across distributed locations
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Collaborative team player with experience supporting cross-functional projects
  • Ability to perform effectively in fast-paced, high pressure go-live environments
  • Strong customer service orientation, particularly in clinical settings

Work Conditions:

  • Frequent travel to clinic locations in assigned region required
  • Dexterity required to operate keyboards, mobile devices, power tools, and computer components
  • Ability to lift and transport moderately heavy equipment (computers, monitors, printers, carts, etc.)
