Job description

Job Requirements
The System Analyst Level IV, Healthy Planet, Primary Architect serves as the technical owner and strategic leader of the Healthy Planet application within the Epic environment. This role is responsible for the application's overall design, configuration strategy, governance, and long term roadmap. While standard Epic analyst positions primarily focus on application build, testing, support, and maintenance, the Primary Architect provides technical leadership and ensures the application remains aligned with organizational objectives and Epic best practices.
The Primary Architect is accountable for application architecture, governance, cross functional collaboration, technical decision making, and long term stewardship of Healthy Planet. Although this position does not include direct people management responsibilities, it provides leadership through subject matter expertise, technical authority, accountability, and mentorship.

Responsibilities include establishing configuration standards, ensuring consistency across all environments, maintaining application documentation, managing build trackers, reducing technical debt, and making final decisions regarding configuration and build approaches.
Solution Design and Architecture
Evaluate enhancement requests and determine the most effective technical solution by assessing existing Epic functionality, cross application impacts, data flow, integration requirements, and future upgrade compatibility. Design scalable solutions that support business objectives while maintaining long term application integrity and minimizing downstream impacts.
Governance and Standards
Establish and maintain application governance by defining naming conventions, record design standards, security standards, workflow standards, and testing requirements. Review and approve significant configuration changes to ensure consistency, quality, and compliance with organizational standards.
Cross Application Collaboration
Partner with analysts supporting EpicCare Ambulatory, EpicCare Inpatient, Orders, Willow, Radiant, Beacon, reporting teams, interface teams, and other Epic applications to identify dependencies, coordinate integrated solutions, and ensure alignment across the Epic ecosystem.
Strategic Planning
Develop and maintain the Healthy Planet application roadmap by evaluating new Epic functionality, reviewing Epic UserWeb recommendations, planning application upgrades, prioritizing enhancement requests, and aligning technical strategy with organizational goals. Determine which initiatives should be implemented immediately, deferred for future consideration, or declined when they do not support long term application strategy.
Technical Leadership and Mentorship
Provide technical leadership to fellow analysts through mentoring, design reviews, build validation, troubleshooting support, and guidance on complex technical issues. Serve as the primary escalation point for challenging application and configuration concerns.
Project Leadership
Lead Healthy Planet workstreams for major initiatives by developing project estimates, coordinating analyst assignments, reviewing deliverables, managing technical milestones, and representing the application team during governance and project meetings.
Epic Vendor Partnership
Serve as the primary liaison between the organization and Epic Systems for the Healthy Planet application. Responsibilities include managing support tickets, reviewing release notes, participating in Epic advisory groups, evaluating new Epic recommendations, and collaborating with Epic representatives to guide future application enhancements and strategic direction.
