Position Summary

Executive Director of Epic Clinical Applications will oversee the evaluation, acquisition, installation, operation, support and maintenance of multiple Epic modules and will assist in supporting stand‑alone and integrated computing systems for the Information Services (IS) department. Serve as a resource for the strategic direction of various systems, applications and the general automation of business support processes. Hire and manage staff that support the diverse application portfolio while maintain a primary focus on Epic clinical modules. Work with senior IS and Operational C‑Level executives to plan, budget, propose and advocate system upgrades, replacements and additions that support the business plans of the organization. Function as a senior IS leader and a key point of contact for all levels of user management and staff. Collaborate with other IS leaders throughout MemorialCare to provide a unified, high quality, service‑oriented department. Align enterprise‑wide information technology vision(s) and resources with overall MHS business strategies, integrating operational and organization processes, applications and technologies.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Participates as a key member of the Senior IS management team in governance processes of the MemorialCare application portfolio.
  • Collaborates with appropriate MHS resources, facilities, physician leadership, best practice teams and VAT’s to develop and maintain application level solutions that support organizational needs.
  • Ensures that proposed and existing systems architectures are aligned with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Assists in the architecture, design, development, and implementation of end‑to‑end integrated software solutions to facilitate any solutions to meet organization goals.
  • Conducts ongoing research to maintain current knowledge of Healthcare IT industry trends, as well as emerging technologies in anticipation of new software solutions or business processes.
  • Supports the Chief Information Officer and MHS IT Vice Presidents and organization C‑Level Leaders to deliver the technology vision and ongoing project/systems implementation via regular written and in‑person communications.
  • Documents, communicates, and enforces policies for standardizing systems, infrastructure and software as necessary.
  • Supervises, educates and trains staff related to business, information systems, systems analysis and project management through on‑the‑job instruction and formal training programs.
  • Responsible for the overall development, implementation and oversight of application management policies and procedures to ensure integrity and availability.
  • Manages staff and develops career path goals for each member, performs regular scheduled evaluations and provides guidance in development of those goals.
  • Undertakes ad‑hoc assignments as required to react quickly and positively to new or emergent situations.
  • Assists in the development and execution of enterprise‑wide IT disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
  • Ensures continuous delivery of application support through oversight of service level agreements with end‑user departments via systems monitoring, programs and application performance.
  • Complies with all IS Policies, Procedures and Standards including Project Management tools/methodologies, Network/Systems/Workstation Security, HIPAA Privacy and Security Regulations associated with Electronic Protected Health Information (ePHI).
Minimum Requirements Qualifications
  • More than 15 years work experience, specifically in a Healthcare delivery setting.
  • More than 10 years management and leadership experience.
  • Solid grounding in core MemorialCare enterprise systems/applications, including Epic and its related modules and infrastructure.
  • Hands‑on experience with business requirements gathering/analysis.
  • Proven experience in systems, software, integration design and development.
  • Strong understanding of information processing principles and practices.
  • Working technical knowledge of current systems software, protocols and standards.
  • Strong knowledge of software evaluation principles and practices.
  • Proven project planning and leadership experience. Exceptional analytical, conceptual, and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Exceptional understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent architecture and technical support documentation skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and consultative skills.
  • Ability to conduct research into emerging technologies and trends, standards and products as required.
  • Ability to present ideas in user‑friendly language.
  • Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high‑pressure environment.
  • Experience working in a team‑oriented, collaborative environment.
Education/Licensure/Certification
  • College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science/engineering, information systems or related field. Master’s Degree in related field or MBA preferred.
  • Ongoing certifications or relevant expertise, i.e., Epic or other Healthcare related applications.
