Responsibilities & Requirements
Supports the Infection Prevention and Control manager in the development, training, and implementation of the campus Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Programs striving for One Best Practice across all KH Facilities. Serves as knowledge expert in IPC practice, processes, surveillance methodologies, products, equipment, policies, and regulatory and accreditation standards.
Job Responsibilities
  • Utilizes organizational resources to act as an advocate for the safe and timely delivery of care with accountability for integrating services that facilitate One Best Practice for patient care related to Infection Prevention and Control issues.
  • Provides support for the facility's Infection Prevention and Control program as follows:
    • Performs infection prevention and control surveillance using EPIC's Bugsy program
    • Conducts analysis of cases that are considered to be healthcare associated, documents findings, and reports findings to facility stakeholders
    • Properly places patients with infections that warrant isolation into the proper precautions and flags patient charts in EPIC accordingly
    • Communicates publicly reportable diseases to the appropriate health department.
    • Performs routine department rounding to ensure compliance with all infection prevention and control policies and procedures as applicable and shares observations with appropriate leadership teams
    • Participates in facility Environment of Care Rounds and documents findings appropriately
    • Responsible for approving Infection Control risk assessments for construction projects , weekly rounding, and construction project closeouts in collaboration with the facilities management team
    • Assists with the development of educational material regarding infection prevention and control for staff and providers as needed
    • Serves as a resource for staff and providers for questions and concerns regarding infection prevention and control
    • Ensures the maintenance of a sanitary facility environment.
    • Participates in facility and system committees as applicable
    • Mitigates risks associated with patient infections present upon admission
    • Mitigates risks contribution to healthcare-associated infections
    • Demonstrates willingness and exceptional ability to problem solve routine to complex situations

Minimum Education
ADN, BSN, or BS in applicable health field
Required Licenses
[Ohio, United States] Registered Nurse
RN license
Certification in Infection Control (CIC) obtained within 3 years of hire.
Minimum Work Experience
5 years' experience in bedside nursing in an acute care facility
Over 2 years of Infection Prevention and Control experience preferred
