Job description

SUMMARY Under the general supervision of the Application System Manager, provide analysis and programming to assist in the selection, implementation and ongoing support of application software including all interfaces necessary to assure a high value, widely accessible, comprehensive, integrated information network which meets customer needs. On a project basis may provide functional supervision of Application System Analysts. Meet with personnel from user departments, Information Services staff and vendors, to define and resolve application system problems.

Analyze problems and determine most efficient and economical programming solution. Develop specifications for software applications; design, code, test, debug, document and install software programs. Test and update software products with new releases.

Evaluate new software products to determine their applicability to current and future hardware and software environments. Coordinate the testing and installation of new software packages and modifications from vendors. Design, program, test and install interfaces among systems with disparate hardware and software configurations.

Modify, maintain and add value to existing software via maintenance releases, utilities from vendor, and creative use of available Information Services resources to enhance the usefulness of the information system to the organization. Direct preparation of manuals and training materials and training of user personnel in the use of systems and modifications to systems. Manage complex Information Services multi-disciplinary projects including project planning, task assignment and project implementation.

Maintain up-to-date technical knowledge by attending seminars and reading professional literature. Participate in councils, quality improvement teams, and other such committees as required. Maintain quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection control in accordance with established hospital and departmental policies, procedures and objectives.

Perform other related duties as required. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS BASIC KNOWLEDGE: Equivalent to Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business Administration or a related field required. A combination of computer-related technical training and successively increasing information systems management responsibility may substitute for a degree.

EXPERIENCE: Three years experience in programming and systems design. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: Functional supervision of up to 3 full-time equivalent employees. Supervision is limited to assigning work, scheduling, providing guidance and counsel, and input for performance evaluation.

Work is performed in a typical office setting. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (Not Required) Epic Certification or Proficiency in one or more of the following Epic applications: ASAP, ClinDoc, Stork, Case Management, Bugsy, Radiant, or Procedure Orders. Experience with one or more of the following applications (or similar systems) is preferred: CBORD, Natus Neuroworks, Natus Sleepworks, NQS, PeriWatch, CarePort, TheraDoc, and GetWell Network.
