Job description

Senior Epic Analyst – Infection Prevention (Epic Bugsy/ICON)
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior Epic Analyst with expertise in Epic Bugsy/ICON to lead the implementation, optimization, and ongoing support of infection prevention and clinical information systems. This individual will partner with clinical leadership, IT teams, and operational stakeholders to configure, maintain, and enhance Epic applications while ensuring regulatory compliance, data integrity, and efficient clinical workflows.
The ideal candidate has extensive experience supporting Epic clinical applications in a healthcare environment, strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, and the ability to lead projects and mentor junior analysts.

Key Responsibilities
Epic Application Management
  • Lead the design, build, implementation, optimization, and maintenance of Epic clinical applications.
  • Configure and support Epic Bugsy/ICON and related Epic modules.
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for complex application issues.
  • Analyze business and clinical workflows to identify opportunities for system improvements.
  • Develop, maintain, and optimize application configuration, security, functionality, and user access.
  • Coordinate application upgrades, patches, and new feature implementations.
  • Lead testing activities including test plan creation, execution, validation, and documentation.
Infection Prevention & Clinical Reporting
  • Lead configuration and support for infection prevention workflows and reporting.
  • Develop and maintain:
    • NHSN Reporting
    • Surgical Site Infection (SSI) Surveillance
    • Infection Prevention Reporting
    • Microbiology Data Quality
    • Clinical analytics and reporting
  • Collaborate closely with Infection Prevention leadership to align Epic functionality with operational, regulatory, and quality initiatives.
  • Ensure data integrity and compliance with healthcare reporting standards.
Workflow & Business Analysis
  • Analyze clinical workflows and translate operational requirements into technical solutions.
  • Validate workflow impacts before implementation.
  • Identify system issues and recommend scalable solutions.
  • Facilitate database conversions and system enhancements.
  • Support software implementations and upgrades from planning through production.
User Support & Training
  • Serve as the primary support contact for providers, clinicians, and operational users.
  • Troubleshoot application, workflow, interface, and system issues.
  • Develop end-user documentation and training materials.
  • Partner with education teams on new workflows and application enhancements.
  • Train users on applications, reports, and reporting tools.
Leadership
  • Mentor and support Associate and Epic Analysts.
  • Lead project planning while maintaining project scope, schedule, and quality.
  • Review project status and communicate updates to leadership.
  • Assist in prioritizing work requests and managing service level expectations.
  • Help resolve SLA breaches through collaboration with business stakeholders.
  • Participate in on-call rotations as required.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Healthcare Informatics, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Epic Bugsy and/or ICON Certification (required).
  • 3–6 years of Epic application build, implementation, and support experience within a healthcare environment.
  • Experience supporting Epic upgrades, implementations, testing, and optimization.
  • Strong understanding of clinical workflows and healthcare operations.
  • Experience creating reports, documentation, and training materials.
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to lead projects and mentor junior team members.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Laboratory or Microbiology background.
  • Experience with infection prevention programs and reporting.
  • Experience with NHSN reporting.
  • Familiarity with multiple Epic applications, including:

Additional Information
