Lead complex environmental compliance programs that shape how global organizations operate-while accelerating your path to leadership.

At ERM, as a Managing Consultant, Environmental Compliance, you'll step into a high-impact, client-facing role where your expertise directly influences how leading industrial organizations navigate regulatory complexity and advance sustainable operations. You'll partner with senior leaders, guide critical compliance strategies, and take on growing responsibility across project leadership, client engagement, and team development-positioning yourself as a trusted advisor and future leader within a global consulting firm.

What You'll Bring:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Civil, Environmental, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field or equivalent experience

  • 4+ years of environmental compliance experience (consulting and permitting strongly preferred)

  • Working knowledge of key regulations (e.g., CAA, CWA, RCRA, EPCRA, OPA)

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and technical writing skills

  • Experience managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, client-focused environment

  • Proficiency in data analysis tools (Excel, databases)

  • Willingness to travel up to 20%

  • This position is not eligible for immigration sponsorship.

Preferred:

  • Master's degree and/or Professional Engineer (PE) certification

  • 6-10 years of relevant experience, including consulting

  • Experience managing projects, budgets, and/or junior staff

  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Access)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage environmental permits, plans, and compliance programs aligned with regulatory requirements and client operations

  • Lead environmental compliance assessments, audits, and corrective action planning

  • Prepare and manage reporting for programs such as air quality, hazardous waste, stormwater, NPDES, TRI, and Tier II

  • Conduct and oversee Phase I Environmental Site Assessments and limited transaction-related compliance reviews

  • Provide on-site environmental, health, and safety (EHS) compliance support as needed

  • Compile, analyze, and interpret environmental data to inform client recommendations

  • Deliver projects on time, within scope and budget, and to ERM quality standards

  • Partner with senior leaders to manage client accounts and support business development efforts

  • Mentor junior team members and contribute to building a high-performing consulting team

For the Managing Consultant, Environmental Complianceposition, the anticipated annual base pay is $83,000-$108,000 (USD). Actual pay will depend on factors such as education, experience, skills, location, performance, and business needs. In some cases, pay may fall outside this range. This role may be eligible for bonus pay (casual and fixed term/flex force employees are not bonus eligible).
