Job description

The Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Intern is responsible to support safety and environmental initiatives and compliance within a manufacturing environment. This internship provides hands-on experience working alongside an EHS professional and operational teams to promote a safe workplace, ensure regulatory compliance, and support continuous improvement activities.
The EHS Intern will assist with safety inspections, environmental compliance activities, employee training support, incident investigations, documentation management, and other EHS-related projects.
Main Responsibilities
• Assist with routine safety inspections and audits throughout the manufacturing facility
• Support environmental compliance activities related to waste management, air permits, NPDES permits, and chemical handling
• Help identify workplace hazards and recommend corrective actions
• Participate in incident investigations and root cause analysis activities
• Assist in maintaining OSHA, EPA, and internal compliance documentation
• Support employee safety training programs and toolbox talks
• Assist with updating Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and chemical inventories
• Participate in ergonomic assessments and machine guarding evaluations
• Help track corrective actions, inspections, and safety metrics
• Assist with emergency preparedness activities and drills
• Support Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) safety and other operational safety programs
• Assist with development of safety communications, posters, and employee awareness materials
• Perform other EHS-related duties and projects as assigned
Requirements
  • High School diploma, GED or equivalent
  • Currently pursuing an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Environment Health & Safety, Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or Engineering
  • Strong interest in manufacturing safety and environmental compliance
  • Basic understanding of OSHA and/or EPA regulations preferred
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Physical requirements include ability to walk throughout a manufacturing facility for extended periods, ability to wear required PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, and safety shoes, and ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
