Job description

Summary of Duties

Direct, organize, develop and plan the overall operation of environmental services at the facility in accordance with established policies and according to federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations to assure facility is maintained in a clean and safe manner.

Responsibilities

  1. Recommend equipment and supply needs to supervisor place orders as directed.
  2. Ensure that stock levels of housekeeping, floor cleaning supplies, disinfectants, equipment, etc., is maintained to provide a clean, safe and comfortable environment.
  3. Counsel/discipline personnel as necessary.
  4. Ensure that duties and responsibilities are carried out in a prompt, efficient and ethical manner.
  5. Maintain confidentiality of all information processed.
  6. Participate in staff development programs and staff meetings.
  7. Serve on various committees and provide written/oral reports as required.
  8. Recommend equipment and supply needs to supervisor and place orders as directed.
  9. Ensure that work areas are maintained in a clean and safe manner.
  10. Participate in facility surveys (inspections) made by authorized government agencies as requested.
  11. Ensure the use of appropriate personal protective equipment and supplies when handling infectious materials and/or hazardous wastes or chemicals.
  12. Report immediately any work related injury, occupational exposure to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, and hazardous chemical to the supervisor.
  13. Follow established infection control procedures when performing duties.
  14. Report immediately all grievances and complaints, all allegations of resident/patient abuse, neglect and/or misappropriation of resident/patient property, all incidents/accidents, no matter how minor, all unsafe/hazardous conditions or defective equipment, either by resident/patients or family to supervisor.
  15. Report all unsafe/hazardous conditions and/or defective equipment immediately.
  16. Follow appropriate OSHA, state, and federal regulations and policies, procedures, and practices for safety and exposure management.
  17. Treat all resident/patients fairly, with kindness, dignity, and respect.
  18. Comply with policies and procedures.

Education/Experience

  1. High school or equivalent preferred.
  2. Minimum of 2 years supervisory experience preferred.
