Description:
  • The Environmental intern is responsible for supporting the Environmental Management team in achieving key department objectives (continual improvement of the Environmental Management System, on-time and accurate environmental compliance reporting, environmental outreach, development and implementation of sustainability projects, communication of sustainability initiatives, and development of environmental training.
  • Assist with data collection, analysis, and calculations for environmental compliance reports
  • Assist with Environmental Management System topics (documentation updates, auditing, continual improvement)
  • Participate in environmental audits and inspections and maintain documentation; input audit information in the BMW Group Audit Management system
  • Administer data in Environmental Compliance Reporting software
  • Coordinate and assist in development of environmental training courses
  • Maintain Environmental intranet site and communication
  • Support sustainability projects (research, development, coordination, communication)
  • Review and update environmental plans and regulatory documents
  • Continually improving content of environmental training courses
  • Analyze data and complete calculations for environmental compliance reports
  • Assist with development of environmental sustainability projects to support BMW Group Sustainability Strategy
  • Assist with development and implementation of biodiversity projects
  • Develop and maintain digital dashboards for environmental metrics and data
  • Support specific projects related to environmental regulatory compliance and continual improvement of the Environmental Management System
  • Plan tours of department areas for BMW Gen>NEXT program

The qualified intern should expect to contribute to improvements in the following functions:
  • Conduct research and conceptualize new ideas.
  • Support project management and coordination of plans for related projects.
  • Coordinate and support focused, community-based events and initiatives.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret information to evaluate the landscape against business strategies.
  • Stay abreast of best practices and recommend relevant initiatives for activities and actions.
  • Provide regular input on enhancing processes and practices.
  • Support the organization's vision, strategy, priorities, and roadmap.
  • Partner with stakeholders to enable successful prioritization, development, delivery, and adoption of program goals.
  • Create PowerPoint slide decks for presentations and support preparation for meetings.
  • Participate in project team meetings.
  • Provide general administrative support.
  • Schedule the use of meeting room facilities on an as-needed basis.
  • Perform other administrative duties and special projects as assigned by project team members.

Qualifications:
  • Environmental Science or Environmental Engineering degree
  • Microsoft Excel (experience with advanced functions (vlookup, macros, etc.) preferred)
  • Basic knowledge of US federal environmental regulations (CAA, CWA, RCRA, etc.)
  • Detail-oriented and strong organization skills
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Motivated team members who can work well independently and in teams

  • Complete and pass a substance abuse test before the work term.
