Job description

Echodyne is seeking a Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager to join our fast-growing team.ย ROLE OVERVIEW

The Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and continuously improving the company's environmental, health, and safety programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while fostering a culture of safety. This role partners closely with Manufacturing, Facilities, Engineering, Operations, and HR to proactively identify risks, reduce workplace incidents, and support a safe, healthy, and environmentally responsible workplace.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop, implement, and maintain company-wide environmental, health, and safety programs, policies, and procedures for research laboratories, manufacturing and office locations.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, WISHA, EPA, DOT, state, and local regulatory requirements.
  • Lead safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments, identifying corrective and preventive actions.
  • Investigate workplace incidents, near misses, and injuries, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain OSHA 300 logs, environmental records, permits, and required regulatory reporting for multiple locations.
  • Develop and deliver safety orientation and ongoing employee training programs.
  • Lead emergency preparedness planning, evacuation procedures, and emergency response drills. Partner with local emergency services for pre-planning emergencies.
  • Emergency on-call for critical emergencies such as workplace injuries, chemical spills, and other hazardous material responses.
  • Partner with Facilities and Engineering on equipment safety, ergonomics, hazardous materials management, and facility modifications.
  • Manage hazardous waste storage, handling, chemical inventory, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and environmental compliance programs.
  • Develop a robotic safety program and provide training to affect employees.
  • Ensure all pressure vessels, convenience equipment, and other safety systems are inspected annually and permitted correctly.
  • Develop a contractor safety program and ensure compliance with company safety standards.
  • Chair the Safety Committee and promote employee engagement in safety initiatives.
  • Track and report key safety metrics, including incident rates, corrective actions, and compliance activities.
  • Recommend and implement continuous improvement initiatives to reduce risk and improve safety performance.
  • Support workers' compensation case management and return-to-work programs in partnership with HR.
  • Partner with other departments to answer questions and guide the company's response to inquiries from Insurance providers and customer questionnaires.
  • Manage the safety budget and plan future safety improvements.
REQUIRED SKILLS / EXPERIENCE
  • Experience conducting incident investigations using root cause analysis methodologies.
  • Familiarity with hazardous materials management, robotic safety, industrial hygiene, ergonomics, and emergency response planning.
  • Excellent communication, training, and leadership skills.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and project management abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and EHS reporting systems.
DESIRED SKILLS / EXPERIENCEย

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or similar certification.
  • Experience supporting ISO 14001 and/or ISO 45001 management systems.
  • Experience in electronics manufacturing, aerospace, defense, or high-tech manufacturing.
  • First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor certification is a plus.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of progressive EHS experience in a manufacturing, aerospace, defense, electronics, or industrial environment.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA/WISHA regulations, EPA requirements, and Washington State safety regulations (or applicable state regulations).
