Data Scientist (Emerging Careers) - Hybrid, Cary, North Carolina

About the job

You will drive solution development, solution testing, and implementation of SAS customer projects involving artificial intelligence, computer vision and machine learning. You will engage the customer from all levels, including executive and business sponsor, to drive processes, adoption, and ensure project success. You will research and develop high-quality demos to illustrate the application of computer vision in solving practical problems. You will work closely with a team of SAS experts with diversified skillset to meet the needs of SAS customers. You will work collaborate with R&D and product management teams to improve SAS solutions and analytical products based on customer project experience.

You should have a strong passion for solving SAS customer problems and enjoy spending your time and effort on sharpening your skills and extending your knowledge. You should be curious and adaptable – this is an evolving space, things will change. Finally, we expect you to be authentic and accountable – work hard, be committed to excellence, and deliver results.

Our team leads the design, development, and implementation of AI models for SAS customers across many industries such as manufacturing, consumer package goods, retail, and life science among others.

As a Data Scientist, you will:
  • Drive the development, testing, and implementation of AI-centric SAS models.
  • Identify customer use cases and contribute to the model development strategy.
  • Partner with our engineering and product management teams to refine SAS model offerings.
  • Foster strong collaborations with customers, partners, sales, and pre-sales.
Required qualifications
  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science or related quantitative field with at least 3 years of relevant full-time experience.
  • Strong research background in computer vision or machine learning model development
  • Experience in using open-source solutions to solve computer vision and machine learning problems.
  • Strong coding skills, preferably in Python or SAS
  • Experience in PyTorch or TensorFlow
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to perform in both team and individual environments
  • Equivalent combination of related education, training and experience may be considered in place of the above qualifications.
  • Location: Cary, HQ Hybrid (minimum of 3 days in the office per week).
Preferred qualifications
  • Experience in practical implementations of computer vision projects in industry and communicating directly with customers at different levels
  • Experience in deployment using Nvidia CUDA Toolkit
  • Experience with containers and Kubernetes
  • Experience working on external customer projects
