Job Description

AECOM is looking for an Environmental Scientist II to work in our Raleigh office. The successful candidate will work within an interdisciplinary, collaborative environment and contribute with successful client engagement and department growth. 

This position will consist of both in-person and virtual (telework) work environments and will include performing environmental contamination assessments, contamination remediation, plan reviews, and technical report writing. 

The successful candidate will provide technical skills leading and supporting projects within the department and will develop strong relationships with the team and clients to enable pursuit of new opportunities. The successful candidate will have the ability to communicate effectively with members of the project team, clients, site personnel and office management, and work both independently and as part of a project team.

The successful candidate will be committed to the team's success and growth; will rigorously apply safety policies and procedures; will manage the technical, cost and schedule elements of project delivery; and will effectively manage the quality of field efforts and project deliverables within the bounds of the AECOM Quality Management System

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Performs standard scientific work requiring application of techniques and procedures.
  • Detects problems when using standardized procedures because of the condition of sample, difficulties with the equipment, etc. 
  • Conducts specific phases of projects for more experienced scientists. 
  • Proposes appropriate analytical methods and techniques. Assists in providing advice and consulting services within scope of scientific knowledge. 
  • Draws conclusions and makes recommendations based on analysis. 
  • Interprets and records data, conducts analyses, compares findings to relevant studies and local, state and federal regulations to ensure compliance.
  • Works under general supervision.
Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BA/BS in Environmental Science or related field + 2 years of experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Valid U.S Driver's License and as a condition of employment, must pass AECOM's Motor Vehicle Records Review

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Masters Degree in Environmental Science or related field
  • 3+ years of experience working in a environmental consulting firm
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification
  • Willingness to travel, complete field work, and work extended hours, when necessary.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and location regulation
