Job description

The French's Food Company, a subsidiary of McCormick & Company, Inc. and a global leader in flavor is seeking a full-time Material Handler for the plant located in Springfield, MO. This person will report to the Production Team Manager.

This is an A shift position: Sunday - Tuesday 7AM-7PM; Wednesday 7AM-1PM
You must be able to work an shift. Specifically D shift Thursday 1AM-7AM, Thursday - Saturday 7PM-7AM. Other shifts on A, B or C could be offered as well if there are any openings. Employees are able to move to different shifts as they became available with their seniority.
Major Function: The primary role of the Material Handler position is to ensure that the packaging line/assigned area are meeting the safety, quality and productivity goals set forth by the company
  1. Safety
    1. Report any unsafe conditions immediately.
    2. Work in a safe manner, adhering to all safety rules: wear personal protective equipment as required.
    3. Attend all required annual safety training
    4. Complete Safe Start Forms at start of shift (if required in your assigned area)

  1. Housekeeping
    1. Responsible for cleanliness and housekeeping of assigned work area and equipment.
    2. Ensure all materials that fall to the floor are cleaned up and discarded in appropriate waste containers immediately.

  1. Quality
    1. Ensure proper packaging materials are being used at all times in adherence with the BOM for the current product.
    2. Use Master Controls to retrieve BOMs, reference control manuals and operating manuals efficiently and ensure compliance.
    3. Visually spot check materials for defects that do not meet quality standards.
    4. Remove and reject all material that does not meet quality standards by filling out a materials non-conformance sheet (located in the slots in front of the packaging office).
    5. Save pallet tag from rejected lot and a sample of the rejected material for quality engineers.
    6. Utilize quality application software to enter quality data required by the control plan.
    7. Will be required to abide by all GMP requirements.

  1. Productivity

    1. Follow the daily production schedule and prioritize job duties ensuring assignments are completed.
    2. Record all required information on lot traceability sheet.
    3. Report all equipment malfunctions when applicable.
    4. Responsible for performing changeovers including delivering and removing components per BOMs. (if applicable for assigned area)
    5. Promote a positive and productive team environment. Will constantly work toward team goals, achievements and recommend changes and improvements to achieve team goals.
    6. Perform other work as assigned by TRM.

2. Minimum Experience Required: None. Employees will be fully
trained upon employment
3. Completed Department Orientation(TM)
4. Received Quality Systems Overview(TM)
5. Understand and follow Packaging Control Plan(TM)
6. Understand and follow Packaging Work Instruction(TM)
7. Line specific duties as outlined in the Training Matrix (TM)
8. Successfully complete all annual quality/safety/HR/Department training
9. Data Entry skills - input performance data and interpret data to improve
processes if needed. Must be able to use Master Controls, and other
basic computer skills to complete daily assignment.
