Job Title: General Maintenance Worker I

Job Summary:

Perform entry-level maintenance and repair duties to support building operations at FLETC Charleston and Naval Weapons Station. As DAWSONs General Maintenance Worker I, you will assist with basic facility upkeep and repair tasks under the supervision of senior maintenance personnel, helping ensure buildings and infrastructure remain safe, functional, and presentable.

Location: Charleston, SC

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in performing basic maintenance tasks including minor repairs to fixtures, walls, doors, and hardware.

  • Perform routine cleaning and upkeep of mechanical rooms, tool storage, and service areas.

  • Replace light bulbs, ceiling tiles, and air filters as directed.

  • Support maintenance team with tools, materials, and project setup.

  • Report observed facility issues or safety hazards to supervisors.

  • Follow safety protocols and site procedures in accordance with PWS Section C-5.B and OSHA standards.

  • Maintain organization of tools, equipment, and supplies in assigned work areas.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 year of recent experience (within past 5 years) in building maintenance or similar support role.

  • Basic understanding of hand tools and standard maintenance practices.

  • Willingness to learn and take direction from experienced maintenance staff.

  • Ability to perform physical labor, lift up to 50 lbs, and work in varied environments.

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must be able to obtain a favorable adjudication via a DHS background investigation and maintain suitability clearance.

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident with work authorization.

  • This position may require the operation of Company-provided vehicles.

    • If operating Company-provided vehicles, maintaining a valid drivers license in good standing is a condition of employment.

    • If operating Company-provided vehicles, employee must comply with all Company vehicle use and safety policies, as well as all applicable traffic laws.

    • If operating Company-provided vehicles, the Company may review your motor vehicle record (MVR), as permitted by law, to verify eligibility to operate Company vehicles.

    • If operating Company-provided vehicles, you must immediately notify the Company if your drivers license is suspended, revoked, restricted, expires, or if your driving privileges otherwise change.

  • Work Hours are 0700 1600 with availability to be on-call outside of work hours

    • Work schedules are determined by management and may be modified at any time based on business needs, contractual obligations, and operational requirements.

Salary: $22.54 an hour + $5.09 HW = $27.63 an hour
