Job Summary:
Esri is a company focused on creating positive global change through GIS technology. They are seeking an Accessibility Web Developer to join the ArcGIS Enterprise portal team, where the role involves addressing accessibility challenges and ensuring that products are usable for all customers. The developer will collaborate with the team to enhance accessibility in web applications and participate in agile development processes.
Responsibilities:
• Address accessibility issues found by external and internal testers
• Proactively support the development of more accessible web applications and UI modules throughout the product
• Collaborate with development team to share knowledge of accessibility development and testing practices
• Apply good software design and development practices in daily activities
• Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members
• Participate in agile development processes and contribute to sprint planning, standups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives
Qualifications:
Required:
• 2+ years of experience designing, building, and delivering web applications
• Experience using and developing applications with JavaScript toolkits and UI frameworks/libraries (such as React, Vue, Angular, jQuery, Dojo, and more)
• Extensive experience with HTML, DOM, CSS, event model, and cross-browser development
• Experience with JSON and REST
• Experience with version control systems such as Git
• Excellent problem-solving, attention to detail, verbal and written communication, design, development, and debugging skills
• Ability to work independently and in groups to effectively participate in the software development life cycle
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, GIS, or related field
Preferred:
• Knowledge of WCAG 2.1 AA requirements and ARIA patterns
• Understanding of keyboard and screen reader accessibility
• Experience remediating accessibility issues found in product audits
