Job description

Duties and Responsibilities: A Computer Operator II is the entry level computer technician position, whose primary duties are to provide end-user support related to computer hardware and software troubleshooting, repair, installations, configurations, and maintenance. Some work may include heavy lifting of computer assets related to new IT requirements. They will assist in maintaining the records for all IT assets inventory and complete all service tickets assigned using the MIS IT Registry application.

The computer operator may be required to assist in the administration, backup, monitoring, restoration and deployment of servers, switches and other IT assets based on direction from the MIS Manager, System Administrator and/or as required in support of Navy ICS SCADA systems used throughout Naval Base Guam. The Computer Operator II receives technical supervision from the MIS Manager and depends on the helpdesk dispatch schedule to perform assigned duties. This individual will be working under the Management Information Systems (MIS) department and must adhere to departmental procedures and performs work in accordance with relevant DZSP 21, DoD Information Assurance and Navy IT policies.

Additional duties reflect the duties of the Information Assurance Technician (IAT) Level II outlined in DoD Directive 8570.01-M section C3.4.Qualifications and Skills: High School diploma or equivalent. Certified in CompTIA A+ or Network + and one of the following: Security + CE, GIAC Security Essentials Certification (GSEC), Systems Security Certified Practioner (SSCP) or Cisco Certified Network Associate Security (CCNA-Sec) as mandated by DoD Policy 8570, Information Assurance Technician Level II. Must be able to obtain and maintain CompTIA Security + CE and an active DoD Secret Clearance

Must be able to apply IT practical knowledge working in a customer service/helpdesk environment. Minimum of two (2) years' experience with IT hardware, software and network installation, upgrades, configurations, and repairs. Strong experience with Microsoft Windows 10; Microsoft Office Professional 2016 and later (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Publisher, and OneNote) and troubleshooting.

Strong familiarity with endpoint security applications (Avast, Symantec, etc.) as used in enterprise environments and ability to respond to incidents as outlined in the CyberSafe First Responder certification. Adobe Acrobat Professional configuration, use and troubleshooting. Deployment and user configuration of network file shares, network printing and network scanning and troubleshooting

Familiarity with Cisco networking basics. Working knowledge of UPS deployment and configuration. Familiar with updating or creating hardware, software and network documentation and SOPs.

Ability to analyze and solve problems in a constantly changing environment. Must be versatile and persistent in solving technical issues under pressure until the job is done. Must be familiar with or have working knowledge of DoD IT policies.

Excellent communications (written and verbal), analytical, problem solving, and time management skills. Desired: Strong knowledge in Microsoft Windows Server 2016/2019; Cisco networking skills; VMWare vSphere Enterprise Version 6, Veeam Backup and Replication for VMWare and Veeam Backup Essentials for endpoints. BS in Computer Science, BA in Computer Information Systems, or other Bachelor's Degree.

Other certifications: Logical Operations CyberSafe First Responder, Certified Advanced Security Practitioner (CASP), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), Microsoft Certified System Administrator (MCSA), Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP).Qualifications and Skills: High School diploma or equivalent.
