Job description

Perma-Pipe in Lebanon, TN is looking for an Entry-Level Production Utility Support Technician
The Entry-Level Production Labor/Utility Worker plays a key part in supporting daily production activities by assisting skilled tradespeople, preparing materials, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-focused, and comfortable working in a physically demanding industrial setting.
This is an on-site, U.S.-based position and candidates must be authorized to work in the United States.

Essential Job Functions
Daily Tasks
  • Assist fabricators, welders, and machine operators with daily production activities.
  • Move materials and finished products throughout the shop using hand tools or material handling equipment.
  • Perform general shop duties such as cleaning, organizing work areas, and removing scrap materials.
  • Support basic fabrication tasks including measuring, cutting, grinding, and deburring materials.
  • Read and follow basic blueprints and work orders to ensure production accuracy.
  • Safely operate hand tools and power tools as required.
  • Monitor equipment for proper operation and report any issues or safety concerns.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in compliance with company safety standards.

Qualifications & Skills
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment is preferred but not required.
  • Basic math skills, including the ability to perform measurements and conversions.
  • Ability to read and understand basic blueprints and fabrication drawings.
  • Familiarity with hand tools and measuring equipment is an asset.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Ability to follow instructions and adhere to safety protocols.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work effectively as part of a team.

Work Environment
  • Occasional exposure to outdoor conditions when coordinating with yard personnel.
  • Demanding environment requires adherence to safety policies and procedures.
  • Active manufacturing/industrial shop environment with exposure to dust, noise, heavy machinery, and varying temperatures
  • Frequent use of personal protective equipment (PPE) including gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, and dust masks.

Education & Certifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift and carry materials: Up to 10 lbs (sedentary), Up to 20 lbs (light), Up to 50 lbs (medium) on a regular basis.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 90% of the shift).
  • Frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive hand and wrist movements.
  • Ability to work safely in an industrial environment, including uneven surfaces and confined spaces.
  • Ability to respond quickly to sounds and visual cues in a production setting.
  • Ability to work in temperature-variable conditions, including heat and cold.
