Civil Engineer
Company Name: SEC, Inc.
Location: Nashville, TN
Project Focus: Site Development, Transportation, Land Planning, & Hydrologic Infrastructure
Work Setting: Hybrid / Flexible
Salary: $105,000 - $135,000 + Performance-Based Bonuses & Company Match
Recruited Exclusively By: Luxus | AEC Talent Partners
Position Overview
Are you ready to transcend standard templates and architect the future of Tennessee's landscape? We are seeking a high-caliber Civil Engineer to lead sophisticated site development projects from initial concept through final ribbon-cutting. In this role, you aren't merely drafting plans; you are a strategic partner responsible for transforming complex land challenges into innovative, sustainable realities. You will steer multidisciplinary efforts, ensuring that every grading plan, utility layout, and drainage system aligns with a bespoke vision tailored to the unique needs of the community.
Joining our team means immersing yourself in a culture that prizes original thinking over "cookie-cutter" solutions. For over four decades, the firm has maintained an accessible, elite atmosphere where professional development is a core value, not just a buzzword. Here, you will find the autonomy to manage high-impact projects and the mentorship necessary to solidify your legacy within the AEC industry. With a flexible work environment and a robust commitment to work-life integration, this is the premier platform for a motivated engineer to transition into a senior leadership trajectory.
Core Responsibilities
  • Visionary Site Design: Architect comprehensive site engineering plans, including precision grading, complex drainage systems, utility infrastructure, and advanced erosion control measures.
  • Project Stewardship: Navigate multiple high-priority projects simultaneously, ensuring every milestone is achieved on schedule, within budget, and to the highest technical standards.
  • Technical Analysis & Modeling: Execute rigorous engineering calculations and feasibility studies utilizing industry-leading software to validate design integrity and environmental sustainability.
  • Regulatory Authority: Master and implement local, state, and federal regulations, serving as the technical lead for flood elevation certificates, subdivision plats, and jurisdictional hydrologic determinations.
  • Multidisciplinary Integration: Synchronize efforts with internal architects, landscape architects, and surveyors to deliver a unified, holistic project vision.
  • Client & Stakeholder Advocacy: Communicate complex technical concepts with clarity and confidence to clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies, fostering long-term professional partnerships.
  • Leadership & Mentorship: Elevate the technical prowess of the firm by providing guidance and professional coaching to junior engineers and interns.
  • Quality Assurance: Oversee the preparation and review of meticulous engineering reports, specifications, and construction documentation to ensure "zero-defect" project delivery.

Required Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
  • Licensure: Active Professional Engineer (PE) license, or the clear ability to obtain licensure within a specified timeframe.
  • Experience: 5+ years of progressive experience in civil/site engineering, specifically within a private consulting environment.
  • Software Proficiency: Expert-level command of AutoCAD Civil 3D and professional experience with hydrologic modeling tools (e.g., StormCAD, HydroCAD).
  • Technical Acumen: Deep understanding of modern construction methods, stormwater management principles, and site development workflows.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Regional Expertise: Direct experience navigating the regulatory landscape and permitting processes specific to Tennessee and surrounding communities.
  • Advanced Certifications: Specialized certifications in erosion control (CPESC) or floodplain management (CFM).
  • Business Development: A proven track record of maintaining client relationships and identifying new project opportunities.
  • Strategic Planning: Experience in large-scale land planning and transportation engineering.
