JOB DESCRIPTION
The Facilities Technician I is an entry-level role responsible for supporting the maintenance and operation of building systems under the guidance of senior engineers and the Manager, Facilities Engineering.
The role focuses on developing technical skills while performing routine preventive maintenance, assisting with system repairs, and ensuring facility reliability and safety.
A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist in routine maintenance and inspections of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Support team members in troubleshooting and repairing building systems.
  • Monitor building operations and report irregularities or potential issues.
  • Perform basic plumbing, electrical, and mechanical tasks as directed.
  • Maintain tools, parts, and equipment in clean and organized condition.
  • Complete assigned work orders and assist in record-keeping of maintenance activities.
  • Conduct routine inspections and rounds of all building systems and equipment.
  • Learn and apply safety protocols and regulatory standards.
  • Respond to facility issues and assist with emergency response procedures.
  • Participate in ongoing training and development to advance technical skills.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Essential duties are completed within the following condition:
  • Work environments are both inside and outside, in climate-controlled and non-climate-controlled conditions
  • Exposure to wet, extreme temperatures, noise, vibration, mechanical hazards, radiant energy hazards, electrical hazards, explosive hazards and burn hazards
  • Climbing ladders and scaffolding as required to complete work
  • Working in a live broadcasting environment

WHAT YOU WILL NEED
  • Foundational understanding of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
  • Eagerness to learn and develop within a technical facilities environment.
  • Good communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions, safety guidelines, and operational procedures.
  • Proficiency with computer applications (Microsoft Office, Jira, etc.).
  • As part of a team supporting a 24/7/365 environment, flexibility with scheduling - including nights, weekends, and holidays - is essential to ensure seamless coverage and support.

Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Technical or vocational training in mechanical, electrical, or building systems preferred.
  • 1-2 years of experience in building maintenance, facilities, or related technical trade (internship or apprenticeship experience acceptable).
  • EPA Universal or trade-related certifications are a plus.

Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
