D.R. Horton, Inc. is currently looking for a Network Engineer I. The right candidate will assist in the installation and maintenance of network systems and communications.  Configures various network devices and services.  Troubleshoots network issues within established guidelines.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Maintain computer networks including routers, switches, VPNs and other physical hardware/software
  • Monitor systems to improve network performance for all systems
  • Troubleshoot, resolve, and communicate networking issues to other employees and management
  • Install, configure and upgrade network hardware and software
  • Create firewall rules and update software and data security systems to keep data and communications protected
  • Implement disaster recovery procedures
  • Provide on-site support for projects that require on-site installation and support
  • Design and implement new network solutions and/or improving the efficiency of current networks
  • Arrange scheduled upgrades
  • Investigate faults in the network
  • Update network equipment to the latest firmware releases
  • Conducts all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company
  • Participate in on-call rotation
  • Report network status to key stakeholders
  • Perform IP address auditing
  • Improve knowledge and understanding of network and security best practices to offer the best solutions and protection to company systems
  • Ability to work overtime
  • Ability to travel overnight

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering or a related field from a four-year college or university preferred
  • Zero to 1 year of related work experience
  • Must have a vehicle and a valid driver's license
  • Knowledge of Windows operating systems
  • Possess strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to execute excellent customer service relationship skills
  • Ability to collect and analyze information, problem-solve, and make decisions
  • Ability to learn new technologies quickly
  • Good time management skills
  • Ability to follow processes
  • Strong documentation skills
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral form or via DRH applications
  • Proficiency with MS Office and email

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience providing network administration a plus
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) a plus
