Job description

Powder Coat Tech
The Powder Coat Tech at SYTECH is responsible for moving parts the through the Powder Coat department with quality in mind. Our shop has a fast pace environment with a focus on moving product. We are seeking a highly self-motivated individual who is willing to be a valued member of our team.
This is a very unique position and we require this individual to be flexible and willing to keep the internal and external customers in mind at all times; while maintaining Quality of Workmanship, Safety, Accountability, and Teamwork, which is vital to our mission.
The individual will work within the group to achieve quality, productivity, and employee performance goals. This is an entry level position, overtime and Saturdays on occasion will be required.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
  • Preps part including masking on products, following work instructions and blueprints in preparation for painting.
  • Inspect parts for damage
  • Hang parts on steel rack and conveyor line for painting.
  • Operate spray booth and manual spray gun. Ensuring proper technique and the correct color is applied for each individual order.
  • After baking, remove parts from racking, inspect according to print and for quality.
  • Work with the Powder Coat Paint Lead to ensure all parts are properly painted and work instructions are followed precisely.
  • Perform work assignment with proper material handling techniques and safety precautions.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with all procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Watch for date sensitive materials and report any powder wash chemicals that are expired
  • Overtime when necessary and needed
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements
Physical Demands
  • Ability to tolerate extreme temperatures for extended periods of time.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs on a regular basis. Occasional lifting and/or pushing of carts with product to other workstations or shipping.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods. Generally, the job requires 95% standing and 5% walking.
  • Natural or corrected vision to see and focus for color and perceive color differences, under normal lighting conditions.
  • Frequently is required to reach with hands and arms.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • A working knowledge of powder coating techniques and equipment.
  • Experience in a production environment.
  • Experience in metal fabrication is a plus.
  • Ability to read and comprehend written procedures.
  • Have an eye for detail.
  • Able to work in fast paced environment.
  • Work well in team environment.
  • Must be organized, detail oriented and dependable.

Environmental Exposure:
  • Manufacturing metal fabrication environment.
  • Confined spaces, high noise levels, moving objects such as machinery, forklifts and carts.
  • Exposure to hot or cold temperature when working in areas of the building that cannot be temperature controlled (especially during summer months).
  • Contact with metals, paints, lubricants, and solvents.
