Job Description
We are seeking entry level field technicians for our Industrial Hygiene Building Science group. An Industrial Hygiene Technician will conduct work within the Greater Boston area.
 
Core ResponsibilitiesWork Product Creation, Project Management, Coordination with Team Members
  • Conduct and/or oversee exposure assessments, healthcare compliance, Environmental Health and Safety or other Industrial hygiene work and/or other project assignments as appropriate.
  • Collect samples from project sites and deliver to third party laboratories for analysis – maintaining strict chain of custody.
  • Coordinate work activities for multiple project functions to ensure satisfying delivery.
  • Project monitoring and oversight of third-party contractors.
  • Prepare proposals, detailed Exposure Monitoring assessment and clearance reports, Indoor Air Quality assessments, Safety assessments, and/or other technical assessment reports including accurate data/summary tables and/or figures
  • Maintain consistent communication of project progress with the assigned project manager and/or clients from start to finish of the project.
  • Maintain assessment and monitoring equipment.
  • Prepare Health and Safety Plans/Job Safety Analyses for sites.
  • Meet utilization and other performance metrics as assigned by supervisor.
  • Maintain professional licensure and/or certifications in good standing as appropriate.
Operations
  • Be aware of and work in a manner that supports the organization’s vision and defined business objectives.
  • Conduct self and collaborate with others in working toward achievement of defined profit objectives of assigned projects.
  • Cooperate in construction of strong cross-functional teams (cooperate with any suggested project assignments outside of original assigned practice area) to achieve success in shared goals, understanding that multiple perspectives and talents build stronger teams and results
  • Complete daily tasks consistently.
Qualifications & Competencies
  • Requires less than 1 year of related experience.
  • Asbestos and/or lead licenses preferred but not required.
  • OSHA 10 or 40-hour HAZWOPER training, preferred but not required.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong technical writing skills.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks and handle multiple priorities effectively.
  • Ability to perform exceptionally under fast-paced conditions.
  • Proficiency utilizing Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) preferred.
  • Ability to meet deadlines both internally and externally.
  • Ability/willingness for travel, with occasional overnight, extended stay and/or national travel. Travel may include car, train, or plane as necessary, sometimes with little advanced notice
  • Possession of a valid driver's license is required for this role, as it involves the frequent use of rental cars or company vehicles
Physical Requirements
  • Walk job sites during inspections, sometimes on uneven terrain, climbing of ladders to access and evaluate roofing conditions and roof mounted equipment.
  • Carry field testing equipment (up to 30 pounds) onto job sites with regularity.
  • Participation in VERTEX medical monitoring program, including medical/physical exam, respiratory mask fit test/PPE training, etc. required if working on environmental site assessments, subsurface investigations, or remediation projects or any task that could cause an exposure risk.
  • Medical Monitoring form for complete information.
Knowledge & Skills
  • Current MassDLS Asbestos Inspector and/or Asbestos Project Monitor accreditation required.
  • National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) 582 Certification required.
  • Health and Safety Certification and Medical Monitoring pursuant to OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120 (HAZWOPER 40 Hour) and OSHA 10 or 30-hour training .
  • Additional certifications/licenses for other services, including mold, lead-based paint, and other environmental services a plus.

The pay range for this role is:
$42,200.00 - $104,000.00 USD annually (Geographical Tier A - Sample Locations: Irvine CA, Middlesex NJ, Tacoma WA, Boston, Alexandria)
