Job description

Level I Test Technician

Position Summary
North Star Scientific Corporation is seeking a Level I Test Technician to test electronic components, circuit boards, top level and subassemblies and support assembly and fabrication. This entry-level technical role provides an opportunity to develop hands-on skills in testing, troubleshooting, soldering` and interpreting engineering documentation while working in a collaborative manufacturing and engineering environment.

Summary of Duties

  • Test digital, analog, and RF circuits, electronic assemblies, and subassemblies.
  • Utilize soldering stations, manual hand tools, and electronic test equipment including network analyzers, signal generators, and digital multimeters (DMMs).
  • Install surface mount and through-hole components, including microminiature integrated circuits and associated hardware during reworking and/or repairs.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting of electronic circuits and assemblies.
  • Interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, and circuit board layouts with increasing proficiency.
  • Testing and fabrication activities for RF and digital systems.
  • Assist senior technicians and engineering staff in completing production requirements.
  • Assist with performing scheduled maintenance on equipment including temperature chambers, vibration tables and chillers.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by Management.

Reports to: Production Supervisor or Manager
Supervises: None
Signature Authority: None

Location: Kapolei, HI


Level of Interaction

  • Works under supervision while developing foundational testing skills. Collaborates with senior technicians and engineering personnel to support production and program objectives.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

  • Associate’s degree in electrical engineering technology, Electrical Technology, Electro-Mechanical Technology, or related field preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and one to three (1–3) years of relevant military or industry experience may be considered.

Experience

  • One to three (1–3) years of experience in fabrication and testing of RF, analog, or digital circuits.
  • Experience may include instructional or supervised technical training.


Abilities, Knowledge, and Skills

  • Basic knowledge of electronic fabrication and testing techniques.
  • Familiarity with standard PC applications, including Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and follow technical direction.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain eligibility for access to classified information.


Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands and tools, and occasionally lift up to 40 pounds.


Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience with soldering and cable / wire harness fabrication.
  • Exposure to RF testing environments or precision electronic assembly.
  • Experience with IPC class 3 standards.
