Job description

We are looking for an Entry-level Staff Accountant to join a growing organization in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This Long-term Contract position offers the opportunity to contribute to core accounting activities in a collaborative small-company setting while gaining broad exposure to daily financial operations. The role is well suited for someone with solid accounting knowledge, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage assigned work with minimal supervision.
Responsibilities:
• Record financial activity in the general ledger and ensure entries are posted with accuracy and proper supporting documentation.
• Perform reconciliations for bank accounts, credit cards, and other balance sheet accounts to maintain reliable financial records.
• Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable tasks, including processing payments, issuing invoices, and following up on outstanding balances.
• Coordinate payroll-related activities by gathering required information and helping support timely and accurate processing.
• Contribute to month-end and year-end closing efforts by preparing schedules, reviewing account activity, and assisting with financial statement support.
• Prepare internal accounting reports and maintain organized documentation to support reporting needs and audit readiness.
• Help strengthen accounting workflows by identifying inefficiencies and supporting practical process improvements.
• Support tax-related accounting activities, including work connected to corporate tax, sales tax, and related journal entry preparation as needed.• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field is preferred.
• Previous accounting experience is preferred; candidates with strong foundational knowledge and relevant hands-on exposure are encouraged to apply.
• Working knowledge of general ledger activity, journal entries, and account reconciliation practices.
• Experience using Excel and accounting systems to manage financial data and produce accurate reports.
• Familiarity with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll support responsibilities.
• Exposure to corporate tax, sales tax, or corporate tax return processes is a plus.
• NetSuite experience is beneficial but not required.
• Strong organizational skills, careful attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
