We are Seeking an Entry Level Night Custodian to Join Our Team!

 About Your Role
As a Night Custodian, you'll help ensure our school remains a safe, clean, and welcoming place for students, staff, and families. In this full-time, hands-on role, you'll be responsible for maintaining the school's buildings and grounds through routine cleaning, sanitation, preventative maintenance, facility inspections, outdoor care, and event setup. Your work helps keep our campus secure, well-maintained, and ready to support student success each day.
Hours: 

  • During School Session: 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM
  • During School Breaks: 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM Monday 
  • Hours vary and are dependent on business needs

Compensation: $18.96 to $20.15 per hour

Essential Duties and Major Responsibilities
Cleaning and Sanitation

  • Execute comprehensive cleaning tasks, including sweeping, dusting, mopping, scrubbing, sealing, buffing, and washing of classrooms and restrooms.
  • Efficiently gather and dispose of waste materials.
  • Perform steam-cleaning or shampooing of carpets.
  • Dust furniture, walls, machinery, and equipment to maintain cleanliness.
Grounds Maintenance
  • Conduct thorough building inspections to ensure security and safety.
  • Communicate with management regarding necessary major repairs or enhancements to building systems.
  • Adhere to established protocols for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
Event Setup and Logistics
  • Manage the relocation and storage of furniture and equipment.
  • Arrange and dismantle decorations, tables, chairs, ladders, or scaffolding to prepare facilities for events.
  • Procure necessary supplies or equipment for cleaning and maintenance tasks.
Assist with other duties as assigned

Education and Experience Needed to be Successful

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 1+ years of experience cleaning buildings and/or maintaining grounds is preferred.
Specialized Skills
  • Basic expertise in the use of cleaning materials and equipment.
  • Intermediate proficiency in the English language, enabling comprehension of operating instructions for cleaning equipment, material handling, and adherence to safety and accident prevention guidelines.
  • Basic verbal and written communication abilities to engage positively and professionally with students, administrators, colleagues, parents, and community members.
  • Intermediate competence in safety precautions, including properly operating and cleaning machinery, ascending and descending ladders and stairs, etc.
  • Basic ability to actively engage in professional development and training sessions.
  • Basic ability to swiftly learn and implement effective cleaning methodologies and acquire advanced skills in the operation of facility-specific cleaning machines.
  • Basic ability to independently identify opportunities for improvement and take proactive steps to share opportunities for improvement with the Principal to achieve organizational goals.
