Headquartered in Portland, Oregon, we operate nine sawmills in Western Oregon, Washington, and British Columbia. We also manage timberland and operate a wholesale and import/export division.

The primary function of Entry Level - Operator 1 at the Randle Division, is to keep the facility clean in order to eliminate safety and fire hazards. The person in this position will work in the Sawmill or Planer and will be asked to perform the following tasks; general facility clean up including picking up slabs, sticks, sawdust, chips off lower mill floors, and assist with dust mitigation. This is a full time position with cross training lead-ins to operate some of the advanced production equipment in the facility.

  • Starting work schedule: Tuesday-Friday, Day Shift (3:00 AM to 1:30 PM, flexible as needed, must be willing to also work swing shift).
  • Wage starts at $23.34 per hour. ($48,547 per year before any overtime and production bonuses). Production Bonuses are possible for every employee each month, based on the plant site's target goals. Also includes a $1500 hiring bonus! 

Entry Level - Operator 1, is just the first step towards a long list of exciting and diverse job opportunities available at Hampton Lumber. As you are trained on different mill production jobs to assist with rotations, you will gain the job experience to become proficient on advanced positions with wage increase possibilities. Hampton Lumber also maintains apprenticeship programs, where employees can receive advanced training to develop the skills needed to receive Journeyman status in skilled trade positions such as Millwright or Electrician, with all the required classes paid for by the company.

  • Maintain a safe working environment and comply with all safety policies and procedures
  • General facility clean up including picking up slabs, sticks, sawdust, chips, and other wood debris off lower mill floors
  • Assist with blow down and dust mitigation
  • Apply good housekeeping standards to your work area or any area you observe

  • Must be 18 years of age and able to pass a drug screen and background check
  • Completion of high-school or equivalent preferred but not required
  • Sawmill experience preferred but not required
  • Must be able to safely work at a moderate to fast pace
  • Lifting is 20-30 pounds on a continuous basis
  • Must be willing to learn new skills
  • Be a team player and self-starter
  • Must be willing to work day or night shift

The Randle facility has been in operation under Hampton Lumber ownership since 1999. Located in the heart of the Cowlitz Valley, the Randle plant employs over 150 team members, many of which have worked here for decades.
