Job description

Woods Cross City seeks motivated, serviceoriented individuals to join our Police Department as fulltime Police Officers. This position performs entrylevel law enforcement duties to protect life and property, enforce state and local laws, and serve the citizens of Woods Cross with integrity and professionalism.


New officers and lateral transfers are welcome.


Essential Responsibilities

  • Patrol assigned areas to deter crime and ensure public safety.
  • Enforce state, federal, and municipal laws; investigate criminal activity and traffic accidents.
  • Respond to calls for service, provide first responder aid, and support community members in distress.
  • Prepare accurate reports and provide testimony in court.
  • Maintain visibility within the community, conduct foot patrols, and participate in public outreach.
  • Operate police vehicles and specialized equipment safely and effectively.
  • Serve warrants, notices, subpoenas, and other legal processes.


Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Utah POST SFO/LEO certification or ability to successfully complete POST SFO/LEO certification upon hire.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and at least 21 years old at the time of POST certification.
  • Valid Utah driver's license.
  • Ability to successfully complete an oral board interview, background check, polygraph/voice stress analysis, psychological evaluation, and drug screening. This may not be all inclusive.
  • Strong communication skills, sound judgment, and the ability to work independently.


Working Conditions

Officers must be prepared for physically demanding tasks, hazardous situations, emergency responses, and work in varying weather conditions. Nontraditional hours-including nights, weekends, and holidays-may be required.
