Job description

We're on a mission to make the skies safe and accessible for everyone. Our technology gives pilots greater control by simplifying the management of any aircraft during standard flight operations, inclement weather, and emergencies. Our SkyOS solution, rigorously and relentlessly developed by skilled and dedicated Skyrysers, is the key to unlocking this unbounded future. Our technology, combined with our commitment to saving lives and our passion for aviation, will empower everyone to experience the joy and freedom of flight.
SENIOR STRESS ANALYST - EL SEGUNDO, CA
Skyryse is seeking a Senior Stress Analyst to support the design, development, and certification of its fly-by-wire, safety-critical aircraft systems. This role is responsible for performing detailed structural analysis on primary and secondary aircraft structures to ensure compliance with performance, durability, and airworthiness requirements. The ideal candidate is hands-on, technically rigorous, and comfortable working in a fast-paced aerospace startup environment where analysis directly informs design decisions.
This is a full-time onsite opportunity based out of El Segundo, CA
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Perform static, fatigue, and damage tolerance analysis of aircraft structures including metallic and composite components
  • Conduct classical hand calculations to assess stress, strain, margins of safety, and structural integrity
  • Generate structural substantiation to support FAA certification activities (Part 23 / Part 27 / Special Conditions)
  • Collaborate closely with design engineering, manufacturing, and flight test teams
  • Support trade studies to optimize weight, strength, and manufacturability
  • Evaluate test results and correlate analytical predictions with ground and flight test data
  • Author and review stress reports, certification documents, and compliance findings
  • Create tools and methods to efficiently conduct stress analysis
  • Support root-cause analysis and corrective actions for structural issues identified during testing or operations
  • Ensure analyses comply with Skyryse safety standards and aerospace best practices

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
  • 6+ years of experience in aircraft structural analysis (commercial, defense, or advanced air mobility)
  • Strong background in aircraft stress analysis principles
  • Proficiency with FEA tools such as:
  • NASTRAN / Patran / FEMAP / ANSYS (or equivalent)
  • Experience with metallic and composite structures
  • Familiarity with FAA certification requirements and structural compliance processes
  • Ability to clearly document and communicate technical findings
  • U.S. work authorization (export-controlled environment)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master's degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience supporting Part 23 certification or military airworthiness
  • Knowledge of loads development and aeroelastic considerations
  • Experience working in startup or rapid-development aerospace programs
  • Exposure to fly-by-wire or safety-critical systems
  • Prior collaboration with DERs or certification authorities

WHY SKYRYSE?
  • The opportunity to change the world through improving aviation safety and accessibility
  • Salary: 160,000 - 180,0000
  • Valuable stock option plan
  • Heavily subsidized medical, dental and vision plans
  • Full-time employees are eligible for 20 days of paid time off (PTO) and 5 sick days annually. PTO and sick days must be used in accordance with Company policy.
  • A company with an ambitious vision, a dynamic work environment, and a team of smart, motivated, and fun to work-with colleagues!

The posted salary range reflects the potential base pay for this role, adjusted to account for varying geographic markets. Final compensation will be based on factors such as your location, job-related skills, experience, and internal alignment, including equity and benefits.
