Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated Quantitative Research Data Analyst to support epidemiological and clinical research studies using diverse healthcare and population-based datasets. The successful candidate will contribute to all phases of quantitative research, including data management, statistical analysis, manuscript preparation, and mentoring trainees in a collaborative academic research environment.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions:
• Lead quantitative research activities under the guidance of the Principal Investigator (PI), including data cleaning, data management, sample size calculations, and statistical analyses for observational studies and clinical trials.
• Conduct epidemiological analyses using advanced statistical methods, including regression modeling and survival analysis techniques.
• Analyze and interpret data from electronic health records (EHR), survey data, administrative healthcare claims, clinical trial datasets, and national survey datasets.
• Prepare statistical results, tables, figures, and written summaries for manuscripts, reports, abstracts, and scientific presentations.
• Contribute to the preparation and submission of grant applications, Institutional Review Board (IRB) protocols, amendments, and related regulatory documentation to support the ethical conduct of research studies.
• Support quantitative data management activities using REDCap, including survey development, data collection, quality assurance, and data export procedures.
• Assist with participant recruitment, study enrollment, and informed consent processes as needed particularly for surveys
• Mentor and supervise student volunteers and trainees interested in quantitative and clinical research.
• Contribute to conference presentations, scientific posters, and peer-reviewed publications.
• Participate in additional research-related activities that align with project needs and individual strengths.
Minimum Qualifications
EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT: 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (Example: bachelor's degree = 4 years of directly related work experience).
Department may hire employee at one of the following job levels:
Research Data Analyst I: Requires a bachelor's (or equivalency) + 2 years of directly related work experience or a master's (or equivalency) degree.
Research Data Analyst II: Requires a bachelor's (or equivalency) + 4 years or a master's (or equivalency) + 2 years of directly related work experience.
Research Data Analyst III: Requires a bachelor's (or equivalency) + 6 years or a master's (or equivalency) + 4 years of directly related work experience.
Preferences
• Expertise in epidemiological research methods, particularly regression modeling and survival analysis techniques.
• Experience working with large healthcare and research datasets, including EHR data, administrative healthcare claims, clinical trial data, and national survey datasets.
• Proficiency in statistical software such as SAS, Stata, R, SPSS, or similar analytical platforms.
• Experience using REDCap for survey development, data collection, management, and export.
• Strong scientific writing and data visualization skills, including preparation of tables, figures, and manuscript results sections.
• Experience analyzing national survey data and GIS mapping is preferred, but not required.
• Knowledge of vision screening, ophthalmology, optometry, or eye disease research (e.g., amblyopia, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy) is a plus, but not required.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and collaborative skills with the ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Requires a bachelor's degree (or equivalent) with up to 2 years of directly related work experience, or a master's degree (or equivalent). One year of higher education may be substituted for one year of directly related work experience.
