Entry Level Startup Equity information

Is 1% equity in a startup good?

For an entry-level startup equity role, 1% equity can be considered a reasonable starting point, especially if the company has high growth potential. The value of this equity depends on the company's valuation and future success, and it often comes with vesting schedules over several years. Understanding the company's stage and potential for growth is important when evaluating equity offers at this level.

How much equity do first 10 employees get?

In early-stage startups, the first 10 employees typically receive between 0.5% and 2% equity each, depending on their role, experience, and the company's valuation. Equity is often granted as stock options or restricted stock units (RSUs) and may vest over four years with a one-year cliff. These allocations are part of the company's overall equity pool and can vary widely based on negotiations and funding stage.

What is the difference between Entry Level Startup Equity vs Entry Level Software Engineer?

CredentialsBasic education, often a degree in business or related fieldBachelor's in Computer Science or related field

Entry Level Startup Equity involves receiving ownership shares in a startup, often with less formal credentials, focusing on business or general roles. Entry Level Software Engineer is a technical role requiring coding skills, typically in a tech environment. While both are entry-level, one emphasizes ownership and business involvement, the other technical skills and software development.

How to get an entry level job in private equity?

To secure an entry-level private equity position, candidates typically need a strong academic background in finance, accounting, or related fields, along with relevant internships or experience in investment banking, consulting, or finance. Developing skills in financial modeling, valuation, and due diligence, often through certifications like the CFA, can improve prospects. Networking and applying through firm websites or recruitment events are also important steps.

What job makes 10000 a month without a degree?

Entry-level startup equity roles, such as sales or business development positions, can sometimes offer high earnings through commissions and equity shares, potentially reaching $10,000 a month. Success in these roles often depends on strong sales skills, networking, and performance, rather than formal education. However, such high earnings are typically achieved with experience, dedication, and sometimes a combination of salary, commissions, and equity incentives.

At Learner Education, we connect students with exceptional tutors who help them build confidence, improve academically, and reach their goals. We are a fast growing remote education company focused on delivering high quality tutoring experiences to students across the United States.

We are currently looking for motivated, relationship driven Academic Sales Representatives to join our growing team.

This is not a cold calling role. Families are already reaching out looking for support. Your job is to guide conversations, build trust quickly, understand student needs, and help families take the next step toward tutoring services that truly make an impact.

If you are competitive, coachable, people oriented, and motivated by both helping others and hitting goals, this could be a great fit.

• Build rapport quickly through phone, text, and email communication
• Consult with families to understand academic goals and recommend tutoring solutions
• Follow up with families after their initial tutoring experience and help convert them into ongoing tutoring clients
• Handle a high volume of inbound leads and conversations throughout the day
• Accurately track communication and activity within our CRM
• Partner closely with internal teams to ensure a smooth student experience
• Hit weekly and monthly enrollment and performance goals

Successful candidates often come from backgrounds such as:

• Hospitality or restaurant industry
• Bartending or serving
• Coaching or athletics
• Customer facing sales roles
• Admissions or enrollment support

We are not simply looking for “salespeople.” We are looking for people who know how to build trust, communicate confidently, and create positive experiences while still driving results.

You may be a great fit if you:
• Are energized by talking to people and building relationships
• Are naturally competitive and goal oriented
• Have strong emotional intelligence and communication skills
• Are coachable, adaptable, and open to feedback
• Take ownership and thrive in fast paced environments
• Enjoy working independently while contributing to a collaborative team
• Are motivated by growth opportunities and performance based earnings

Requirements

• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build rapport quickly

• Comfortable spending a large portion of the day speaking with families over the phone

• Strong understanding of education in the US and student success is a plus

• Ability to manage multiple conversations, follow ups, and tasks simultaneously

• General computer and technology proficiency, including Google Suite and VOIP systems

• Familiarity with CRM platforms such as Zendesk is a plus but not required

• Willingness to learn, take feedback, and grow in a fast paced environment

• Reliable high speed internet and a dedicated home workspace

• Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required

• Experience in education, hospitality, coaching, admissions, sales, or other customer facing roles is a plus

Benefits

Compensation

• Base salary: $45,000 to $50,000

• Additional earning potential through uncapped commission opportunities

• Top performers have the opportunity to earn an additional $30,000+ annually in commission

• Healthcare benefits

• Unlimited PTO

• Share options/equity opportunities

• Strong growth opportunities within a fast growing company

Schedule

This is a full time remote role with a set schedule. We currently have the following shifts available:

• Tuesday – Saturday | 12:00 PM – 9:00 PM ET
• Sunday – Thursday | 12:00 PM – 9:00 PM ET
(Please note that Saturday shifts end earlier at 7:00 PM ET.)

While candidates may indicate a preferred schedule, placement into a specific shift cannot be guaranteed and will be determined based on business needs at the time of hire.

Flexibility and consistency within these scheduled hours are important, as this role supports families and students during peak engagement times.

Why Join Learner?

• Fully remote position
• Join a fast growing education company making a real impact
• High energy, collaborative startup environment
• Opportunity for growth and advancement
• Meaningful work helping students and families succeed
• Competitive compensation with strong earning potential

We are looking to hire quickly and hope to onboard the right candidates as early as June 30, with July 13 being the latest anticipated start date.
