Is a career in solar worth it?

A career as an entry level solar designer can be worthwhile due to the growing demand for renewable energy solutions and the availability of training programs and certifications. The role involves designing solar panel systems, often requiring knowledge of electrical and mechanical principles, and offers opportunities for career growth in the renewable energy industry.

Entry-level solar designers typically earn between $40,000 and $60,000 annually, depending on location, experience, and certifications. To become a solar designer, typically one needs a background in engineering, architecture, or a related field, along with knowledge of solar energy systems and design software such as AutoCAD or PVsyst. Gaining relevant certifications, like the NABCEP Solar PV Installer or Designer certification, can improve job prospects. Practical experience through internships or entry-level positions in solar installation companies is also valuable.

How to get into solar with no experience?

Entry level solar designer roles often require basic technical knowledge and familiarity with solar systems, which can be gained through online courses, certifications like NABCEP, or hands-on training programs.
