Assistant Remote Solar Design information

What does an assistant remote solar designer do?

An Assistant Remote Solar Designer supports the process of designing solar energy systems, typically by using specialized software to create layouts and electrical schematics for solar panel installations. Working remotely, they assist senior designers or engineers by analyzing site data, preparing project documentation, and ensuring that designs meet safety and regulatory standards. Their role often involves coordinating with sales, engineering, and installation teams to help deliver efficient and accurate solar solutions for residential or commercial clients.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an assistant remote solar design professional?

To thrive as an Assistant Remote Solar Design professional, you need a solid understanding of solar energy principles, basic electrical engineering concepts, and proficiency in CAD or solar design software, often supported by relevant technical training or coursework. Familiarity with tools like AutoCAD, PVsyst, Helioscope, and knowledge of permitting processes and industry standards is typical for this role. Attention to detail, strong problem-solving abilities, and effective communication skills help you collaborate with engineers and sales teams while ensuring design accuracy. These skills and qualities are essential for creating efficient, compliant solar designs that meet client needs and regulatory requirements in a remote work environment.

What are some common challenges faced by assistant remote solar design professionals when collaborating with on-site teams?

Assistant Remote Solar Design professionals often encounter challenges related to communication and coordination with on-site teams, particularly when clarifying site-specific details or ensuring that design specifications match field conditions. Time zone differences, reliance on digital tools, and occasional delays in receiving site data or feedback can require proactive communication and adaptability. Building strong relationships with both engineering colleagues and field installers is essential for streamlining project workflows and minimizing errors in final designs.

Job description

About us
At Haven Energy, we're on a mission to accelerate the adoption of clean energy technologies by helping homeowners install solar and battery systems. We specialize in deploying residential solar and battery systems through strategic partnerships with utilities, non-profits, and government agencies. As a fast growing, venture-backed company we're looking for dynamic individuals who want to make a real impact in the clean energy space.
Summary of Role
You'll serve as a trusted advisor to homeowners who want to add solar and battery storage systems to their homes. You will confidently guide customers through California's new subsidy landscape to help them apply for a solar and storage system that is fully covered through the state's rebate program. With every installation, you'll help spur the clean energy transition and show homeowners how they can manage their energy and reduce their impact on the planet.
A great energy specialist leads with honesty and empathy. Our customers are overwhelmed by high electric bills and unreliable power. You'll know that a solar and battery system can help alleviate these pain points but you'll also understand that it can be a big and intimidating option for the customer. You're able to keep this POV at the front of your mind as you help people, listening deeply to their concerns and always communicating the benefits of solar and energy storage in a way that makes sense to them.
What you'll do
  • Guide customers through a seamless sales and onboarding process with a concierge-like experience
  • Take a consultative approach with each customer to identify their ability to qualify for California's fully subsidized solar and storage system
  • Collect relevant information from the homeowner to ensure Haven's ability to apply for subsidy on behalf of the customer
  • Utilize solar design tools such as Aurora to build an accurate solar proposal that meets the qualifications of the state's subsidized program
  • Manage a pipeline of customers through a CRM, tracking progress and communication touchpoints
  • Meet or exceed assigned sales targets while consistently striving for customer satisfaction

Qualifications
  • 2+ years of experience in solar sales and an active HIS license
  • Knowledge of solar system configurations and solar design software
  • Excellent communication, writing and information-gathering skills
  • Comfortable with numbers and learning new technology quickly
  • Attention to detail when documenting and completing tasks for project sign-off
  • Thrive in a fast paced, target-focused environment constantly striving to provide the best customer service
  • Motivated by hitting and exceeding targets
  • Ability to explain technical issues to customers in a simple and friendly way

Compensation
  • Haven's Remote Energy Specialists will be compensated at the notated rate for 40 hours per week.
  • This position will have a volume bonus based on performance.

Benefits:
  • Competitive salary and performance-based incentives.
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage.
  • Flexible work arrangements and opportunities for career advancement.
  • A collaborative and innovative work culture focused on sustainability and making a positive impact.
