Job description

To help us drive excellence, you'll get to:
• Schedules and conducts meetings with customers, suppliers, and in-plant personnel.
• Provide key input into the development of departmental strategic goals along with identifying key measurable to support the departmental goals.
• Serve as main contact for external customer concerns. Monitor, respond, initiate corrective actions, follow up, close and track customer complaints.
• Works with customers to obtain all necessary APQP documents including Process Flow, PFMEA, and Control Plans.
• Supports internal as well as third party ISO: 9001:2015 Quality Management System audits and ISO: 17025:2017.
• Performs research and design for quality processes and controls.
• Evaluates designs, drawings, project plans, specifications, and other documents.
• Initiate and facilitate cross-functional teams in pursuit of problem solving and mistake proofing quality problems.
• Drive implementation of a progressive quality system to prevent defects and meet or exceed customer expectations.
• Drive implementation of all quality policies and required operating procedures and work instructions.
• Develop and maintain Company performance metric data, prepare charts and summaries for applicable measurables as required.
• Travel to customers, vendors, and suppliers as necessary. Generate and distribute visitation reports along with any other customer communications.
• Assist in providing training and support for the Advanced Quality Technicians, including gage training.
• Audits and assists with quality procedures and buy off criteria for tools, parts, and assembly processes.
• Prepares and updates: set-up instructions, check fixture instructions, operator inspection instructions, and should it become necessary; repair instructions and sort logs.
• Prepares, submits, and follows through with deviation request forms (if necessary).
• Ensures all corrective actions are submitted in a timely manner and all preventative counter measures are verified.
  • This is a Full-Time, salary role is a part of our Autokiniton - Plymouth team and reports to the Quality Manager.

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field or equivalent industrial design experience.
Minimum six (6) years' experience in quality engineering or supplier development.
REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES:
  • Responsible for reading and understanding the ISO-9001:2015, ISO-17025:2017, and ISO-14001 procedures.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical and communication skills.
  • Effective email and electronic communication skills are required.
  • Solid working knowledge of PPAP processes.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and/or associates.
  • Ability to work effectively with numerous departments.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Knowledge of GD&T.
  • Knowledge of measurement equipment such as CMM and Laser Scanning.
  • Knowledge of quality control procedures.
  • Ability to follow tasks through to completion.
  • Adaptive to a fast-paced environment.

PREFERRED ADDITIONAL SKILLS & ABILITIES:
• Knowledge of standard quality practices, ex. FMEA's, SPC, DOE, etc.
• Knowledge of resistance and MIG welding processes.
• Ability to work in fast-paced team environment.
• Proven leadership ability and excellent interpersonal skills.
• Excellent organizational, analytical and communication skills.
• Ability to mentor and teach the team effective problem-solving methods.
• Good working skills with Microsoft Office software
