Job description
BASIC FUNCTION:
The Human Resources Onboarding Specialist is responsible for coordinating, executing and actively managing onboarding activities for new hires from offer of acceptance through their first day of employment. This includes interacting with new hires and ensuring they completed the necessary paperwork on a timely basis. This position will also support Recruiters in assisting with screening candidates for entry level positions.
RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE WORK OF OTHERS: This position holds no direct supervisory responsibility.
TRAVEL REQUIRED: Less than 5%; metro Chicago and suburbs.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Onboard new hires to include but not limited to conducting and processing pre-employment screenings, new hire orientation and ensuring set up in HRIS system.
- Provide excellent customer service to help new hires navigate through the hiring process.
- Monitors electronic onboarding completion.
- Acts as a resource to all new hires and managers with questions and supplies necessary resources needed to successfully bring them onboard.
- Responsible for new hire orientation.
- Follows up with new employees to evaluate onboarding experience and recommend ways to enhance the new hire onboarding programs and experience.
- Works with hiring managers to ensure compliance with all federal/state laws and regulations.
- Manages current candidate activity in the applicant tracking system (ATS).
- Manages application/resume file and retention according to company policy.
- All other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
- Minimum two years of experience with onboarding activities in a high volume recruitment environment preferred;
- Bachelor's degree in human resources preferred.
- SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or PHR certification preferred;
- Superior communication, interpersonal and organizational skills;
- Must be able to handle multiple projects and priorities;
- Experience with Human Resources Information Systems (Paycom), including Microsoft Word and Excel and database software;
- Proven ability in areas of problem solving, independent decision making, and conflict resolution.
