Job Summary and Responsibilities
As an RN Educator, you will design, organize, implement, and evaluate evidence-based educational programs, orientations, and continuing education.
Every day you will facilitate the professional growth, skill development, and competency of staff, ensuring these programs primarily support the organization's mission, vision, values, and strategic goals. Your work will directly contribute to ensuring quality, safety, and service in patient and family-centered care.
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate strong instructional design capabilities, expert clinical knowledge, and the ability to effectively engage and develop healthcare professionals, ultimately enhancing the standards of patient care
  • Planning, coordinating, implementing, and facilitating education and training programs for professional, clinical, and non-professional employees, current and former patients, volunteers, and community members to ensure the highest quality of patient care and satisfaction
  • Overseeing orientation programs, in-services, and training programs including BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP, as well as patient- and community-related education
  • Managing online education programs and courses, and overseeing CE programs in compliance with Board of Registered Nursing and other regulatory body requirements
  • Designing projects, programs, and courses, and collecting and reporting data
  • Serving as subject matter expert in area of focus

Job Requirements
Required
  • Must possess and maintain a current Registered Nurse License with the state of California
  • Must possess and maintain a current Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate
  • Must possess and maintain a current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certificate
  • May be requested to obtain AHA Instructor certifications per the needs of the Department
  • Current valid California Drivers License
  • Ability to work on multiple projects and meet established deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to apply theories of adult education and teaching methods
  • Experience using Microsoft Office applications
  • Able to work with minimum supervision, varying hours, and work in various locations and conditions
  • Able to work in a culturally and socio-economic diverse environment

Preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in health related field
  • Two (2) years of OR circulating experience in an acute care hospital
  • Familiarity with all aspects of technical, clerical, and fiscal management of a hospital department
  • Prior educator experience
  • Strong knowledge base in health education programs and project management skills

Please be advised that this location requires quarterly American Heart Association (AHA) Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) competency certification post-hire. This ongoing competency is required through resources internal to the facility; outside RQI competency resources are not acceptable for CommonSpirit Health compliance requirements.
