Newport Academy, RTC, is actively seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) to join our team as a full-time remote provider. In this vital role, you will focus on supporting trauma injury patients by assisting them in navigating and overcoming their mental and emotional challenges. Engaging deeply with patients, you will help devise comprehensive treatment strategies that enhance their journey toward recovery.

Work Environment

As a fully remote position, this role embraces the flexibility to work from various locations while maintaining a structured routine. The expected work hours are Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for a range of tasks aimed at improving patient outcomes:

  • Conduct thorough assessments and initial evaluations to identify patient needs and challenges.
  • Develop tailored treatment plans based on comprehensive evaluations and ongoing patient interactions, ensuring that all strategies align with individual goals.
  • Regularly meet with patients, providing them with a safe space to voice their concerns and struggles while actively listening and applying therapeutic techniques.
  • Monitor and document patient progress, making necessary adjustments to treatment plans to adequately meet evolving needs.
  • Educate both patients and their families about effective coping mechanisms for stress and trauma, promoting a shared understanding of mental health awareness.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, social services, and community resources to ensure comprehensive care for patients.
  • Participate in continuous education to maintain LMHC licensure and stay informed about cutting-edge therapeutic practices and methodologies.
Patient Population / Client Focus

This role primarily focuses on patients who have experienced trauma and are seeking to manage their emotional and psychological responses to such events. You will engage with individuals from diverse backgrounds, demonstrating cultural competence and sensitivity to their unique experiences. Our community health clinic atmosphere emphasizes a compassionate approach, aiming to foster trust and promote healing.

Qualifications
  • A valid LMHC license is required.
  • A Masterโ€™s degree in Mental Health Counseling, Psychology, or a related field.
  • At least three years of direct experience working with trauma patients.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and familiar with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems. Experience with Salesforce is preferred.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, capable of conveying complex information in an understandable manner.
Preferred Experience

While the minimum requirement is three years of experience, candidates with additional training or certifications in trauma-informed care or specific therapeutic modalities will be given preference. Experience in community outreach and collaboration with various healthcare agencies is also highly valued.
