Job description

TITLE: Victim Support Advocate

FTE: Full-time /Non-Exempt/Hourly

Rate of Pay: $21.00/hr -$23.50/hr

REPORTS TO: Advocacy Program Manager

LOCATION: 14327 Huntington Ave. Savage, MN and on occasion trips to our Minneapolis office

BENEFITS: Medical, Dental, Life, Long-term Disability (100% paid by SVC)

Sick Leave (40 hours), Vacation Time (120 hours), Holidays (11 days of your choice), Retirement (3%)

This is NOT a remote position.

Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

Responding to the demand for SVC direct service delivery in Carver and Scott counties including (100% of time):

· Respond to the needs of people affected by sexual violence in Carver and Scott counties (primary and secondary victims) by carrying out advocacy services including legal advocacy, medical advocacy, telephone-based support, one-to-one counseling and support groups.

· Carry a participant caseload of 10-15 active clients.

· Conduct outreach efforts and events to promote SVC’s services in Carver and Scott counties, including community and fundraising events.

· Liaise with stakeholders in response to sexual violence in both Carver and Scott counties to increase collaboration between SVC and government (including the county attorney’s offices, law enforcement, and corrections) and partner agencies.

· Coordinate and support volunteers and interns assigned to the satellite office.

· Facilitate at least three support groups per year.

· Offer direct services backup support, including crisis line support, individual counseling, legal advocacy, and medical advocacy support as needed.

· Work with the Associate Director to conduct an evaluation of services and collect participant feedback.

Other duties include:

· Responsible for other duties as assigned.

Required Skills, Experience, and Characteristics:

· Have a working knowledge of strategies and methods of support for victims/survivors of sexual violence.

· Must be able to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds and marginalized communities.

· A strong commitment to social justice and the dismantling of all forms of oppression.

· Team-oriented person who will foster a positive working environment.

Preferred Skills, Experience and Characteristics:

Applicants who reside in Carver or Scott Counties will be given priority.
