Job description

Join Pacific Rail Services working at the Norfolk Southern Rutherford Rail Terminal! 

Start your career in the rail industry with a stable, industry-leading company. We’re hiring Entry-Level Rail Yard Operators. No CDL or prior hostler driving experience required. Full training provided.

Note:
This posting is for the Rutherford location only. Other locations may have different pay and benefits.

Pay & Compensation:
  • Starting pay: $20.50/hr (Overtime: $30.75/hr)
  • After 1 year: $22.44/hr
  • Annual earning potential: $55,000–$70,000 (with overtime)

Shifts Available:
Each shift is 8 hours, with a mandatory 4-hour holdover when needed (up to 12 hours total).
Current shift start times:
  • 6:00 PM
  • 10:00 PM
  • Weekends and holidays are required.  
Job Duties:
  • Operate jockey trucks to move 53ft trailers, containers, and chassis.
  • Perform ground duties: climbing railcars, securing tracks, handling connectors.
  • Assist crane operators using hand signals.
  • Stack/unstack chassis and load/unload chassis racks.
  • Support other tasks in a team-based environment.
