Job description

Volt is immediately hiring for Product Engineer for Wauwatosa, WI
As a Product Engineer, you will:
  • Developing and delivering cosmetic parts (paint schemes, trim, and accessories) through the full product lifecycle.
  • Owning DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) for assigned parts, ensuring risk identification and mitigation planning are current and complete.
  • Owning DVP&R (Design Verification Plan and Report) for assigned parts, defining test requirements and tracking verification completion.
  • Managing the PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) plan for assigned parts, including BOM structure, part data planning, and milestone tracking. (A separate Designer will execute data release and part change submissions.)
  • Coordinating with cross-functional teams including styling, manufacturing, and supply chain to align on part feasibility and design intent.
  • Supporting supplier interactions related to paint process capability, cosmetic specifications, and parts qualification.
  • Reviewing and approving cosmetic part samples against approved appearance standards.
  • Participating in design reviews, program milestone gates, and technical problem-solving sessions.
  • Maintaining accurate part data and documentation in support of program deliverables.
  • Working onsite at PDC; attendance and in-person collaboration are required.

This is a full-time contract opportunity.
Required Skills:
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME).
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver parts through a structured product development process.
  • Hands-on experience owning DFMEA - creating, maintaining, and updating failure mode analysis documentation.
  • Hands-on experience owning DVP&R - defining verification requirements and tracking test completion.
  • Ability to own a PLM plan including BOM structure and part data planning. (Execution of data release and changes will be handled by a dedicated Designer.)
  • Availability and willingness to work onsite at Product Development Center in Wauwatosa, WI.

Pay Range: $30/hr to $40/hr
