About Us

Contemporary Amperex Technology Kentucky LLC (CATK) is the U.S. battery manufacturing subsidiary of Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited (CATL). CATL is a global leader in the research, development, and manufacturing of advanced battery energy storage systems for electric vehicles, grid-scale, and maritime applications. We are committed to delivering innovative solutions that support the global transition to clean energy.

Our Vision

To become a globally leading innovative technology corporation, contribute meaningfully to sustainable energy solutions, and provide a platform that supports both the professional and personal growth of our employees.

Roles that we are hiring for:

  • Process Quality | Quality Control | Incoming Quality Control | Supplier Quality
  • Location: Elizabethtown, Kentucky
  • Initial Training: Marshall, Michigan – approximately 3 months

Depending on the specific quality function, responsibilities may include:

Process Quality Engineering

  • Manage quality performance throughout the manufacturing process and drive resolution of production-related quality issues.
  • Investigate defects and process deviations, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Partner closely with production and engineering teams to improve manufacturing processes and product quality.
  • Support quality standards, procedures, control plans, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Provide hands-on quality support directly on the manufacturing floor.

Quality Control (QC)

  • Perform and oversee quality inspection and testing throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Support the establishment and operation of laboratory capabilities for a new manufacturing facility.
  • Develop and maintain inspection standards, testing procedures, and quality documentation.
  • Analyze inspection and laboratory results and coordinate corrective actions when quality issues are identified.
  • Supervise and provide technical guidance to QC/laboratory technicians.

Incoming Quality Control (IQC)

  • Manage incoming inspection and quality control of chemical raw materials and other production materials.
  • Support the setup and development of laboratory and incoming inspection capabilities for the new facility.
  • Perform or oversee material testing, inspection, and quality verification.
  • Work with internal engineering and supplier teams to address incoming material quality issues.
  • Establish inspection standards, testing methods, and acceptance criteria for incoming materials.
  • Supervise and provide technical guidance to laboratory or quality technicians.

Supplier Quality Engineering (SQE)

  • Support qualification and early-stage development of chemical and/or mechanical material suppliers.
  • Manage supplier quality performance following SOP and mass-production launch.
  • Conduct supplier assessments, quality reviews, root cause investigations, and corrective action follow-up.
  • Work directly with Tier 1 manufacturing suppliers in the U.S. and coordinate quality activities with suppliers in China.
  • Drive supplier quality improvement and ensure supplier processes and materials meet manufacturing requirements.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, procurement, manufacturing, and quality teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or above in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing plant environment is strongly required; candidates should be comfortable working directly on the production floor.
  • Previous Quality Assurance, Quality Engineering, Process Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related experience may be considered depending on the position.
  • Experience with manufacturing processes in battery, chemical, pharmaceutical, or other process-intensive industries is highly preferred.
  • Battery manufacturing experience is strongly preferred but not required for all positions.
  • Hands-on laboratory experience is strongly preferred for QC and IQC positions.
  • For chemical-material-focused positions, a strong background in chemicals, chemical raw materials, laboratory testing, or related manufacturing processes is required.
  • For applicable QC/IQC leadership positions, demonstrated experience supervising at least three technicians or other technical personnel is required.
  • SQE candidates should have experience working with Tier 1 suppliers in the U.S. manufacturing industry, preferably on the supplier side rather than solely within an OEM environment.
  • Experience working directly with or managing quality issues involving China-based suppliers is highly preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving, root cause analysis, cross-functional communication, and quality improvement capabilities.
  • Ability and willingness to work in a hands-on, fast-paced manufacturing environment, particularly during new facility launch and production ramp-up.

Preferred Industry Background

Candidates with experience in one or more of the following industries are particularly encouraged to apply:

  • Lithium-ion battery / energy storage manufacturing
  • Chemical or specialty chemical manufacturing
  • Pharmaceutical manufacturing
  • Automotive Tier 1 manufacturing
  • Advanced materials manufacturing
  • High-volume industrial manufacturing

Compensation & Benefits

  1. Competitive salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.
  2. Comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision coverage.
  3. 401(k) retirement plan with company match.
  4. Paid time off and company holidays.
  5. Professional development and growth opportunities.
