About the Role:
PCIW Steel Corp is looking for a motivated Entry Level QA/QC Inspector to join our structural steel team in Spring Valley, CA. This is a fantastic opportunity to launch your career in quality assurance and inspection within a dynamic and hands-on manufacturing environment. If you have a keen eye for detail and a passion for precision, we want to hear from you!
Key Responsibilities
  • Dimensional Checks: Assist in measuring cut, fitted, and welded steel members to verify they match the exact dimensions on the shop drawings.
  • Material Verification: Help track and document material grades, heat numbers, and traceability requirements before fabrication begins.
  • Visual Inspection: Learn to perform visual inspections of welds (CJP, PJP, fillet) to ensure compliance with AWS D1.1 standards.
  • Documentation: Accurately fill out inspection logs, non-conformance reports, and daily QC documentation.
  • Coating Verification: Measure and record the dry film thickness (DFT) of paint or primer applications
What We Are Looking For (Qualifications)
  • The Basics: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • AWS and AISC knowledge 
  • Measurement Skills: Absolute proficiency in reading a standard tape measure down to 1/16".
  • Print Reading: Basic familiarity with (or a strong desire to learn) structural steel blueprints and shop detail drawings.
  • Tech-Savvy: Comfortable using tablets or computers to log reports and track project data.
  • Mindset: Highly organized, meticulous, and not afraid to speak up if a piece of steel doesn't look right.
  • Physical Ability: Able to stand for long periods, walk the shop floor safely, and lift up to 50 lbs as needed.

Bonus Points (Not Required, But a Plus)
  • Previous experience working in a manufacturing, construction, or welding environment.
  • Basic understanding of welding symbols and terminology.
  • Current AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) in-training or interest in pursuing certification.
