Job description

Relocation assistance is provided to the qualified candidate! Summary: Our award-winning client is seeking a Hydraulic Design Engineer to join our team! This role provides technical support for various engineering functions within the product development lifecycle. You'll collaborate with project managers, application engineers, and drafters to ensure smooth project execution, meet customer needs, and contribute to efficient product designs. Responsibilities:
  • Technical Expertise:
  • Master and utilize specialized CAD software for design projects.
  • Analyze and verify technical specifications for orders, ensuring a seamless transition between application engineers and project managers.
  • Assist application engineers with technical aspects of external equipment.
  • Collaborate with vendors to gather technical information for new products and create related documentation.
  • Conduct design checks and collaborate with project managers on component selection and design for assemblies.
  • Design sub-structures and tooling for product installations.
  • Perform stress and structural analysis using finite element software under guidance.
  • Troubleshoot drawing-related issues with manufacturing and outsourcing vendors.
  • Project Support & Communication:
  • Facilitate clear technical communication between designers and drafters.
  • Develop technical formulas and spreadsheets for the design team.
  • Support field sales efforts by evaluating design options for customer proposals.
  • Collaborate on creating standard product configurations to expedite order processing and enhance competitiveness.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams to design replacements for competitor pumps, minimizing customer equipment modifications.
  • Assist project managers, application engineers, and purchasing managers during technical negotiations.
  • Maintain and update work instructions as procedures evolve.
  • Teamwork & Delegation:
  • Provide guidance and technical support to drafters and modelers as needed.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field preferred. Prior pump design or rotating equipment experience is a plus.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in a relevant engineering field. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), a modern CAD system, and technical drawing creation.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings with understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing is essential.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for effective teamwork in a diverse environment are required.
