Job Summary:

The Project Accounting position works collaboratively with both the Finance and Project Excellence Teams on Job Cost, Job Financial Tracking and Job Closeout.  The position requires excellent communication skills, ability to analyze job data, job cost and accounting aptitude, strong ability to multi-task and exceptional prioritization skills combined with the ability to meet deadlines. This position is a critical role within the Finance Department as the departmental lead for regular interactions with the Project Excellence team.


Essential Job Functions:

  • Partner with the cross departmental team which includes finance, sales and project excellence, for project status tracking, project reconciliation and project billing preparation.
  • Assist directly in gathering information for revenue forecasting, WIP, backlog and driving to identify barriers to timely project close out and billing.
  • Responsible for monthly WIP processing and revenue recognition on customer accounts assigned in collaboration with VP, Finance.
  • Provide timely and accurate weekly reporting metrics to the VP, Finance. 
  • Attend weekly production meetings for assigned customer accounts and provide any necessary updates to the PA team.
  • Effectively identify and communicate barriers to success, issues or problems to the VP, Finance.
  • Actively participate in process flow documentation as well as standard operating procedures.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement in process efficiency.
  • Provide project close out/ reconciliation education to project excellence team. 
  • Conduct period and project close procedures.
  • Perform job cost to GL reconciliations.
  • Analyze and validate job costing information and review with the sales and project excellence teams. 
  • Integrate Estimates and Job Budgets into the Finance software system.
  • Active advocate on assigned customer accounts ensuring accurate and timely billing.
  • Support the VP, Finance and team in various related activities as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Experience Required:

  • Entry level: 2-year Project Accounting experience.


Experience Preferred/Other Qualifications:

  • Oracle Cloud experience.
  • Experience working in a construction or project management industry.


Physical Job Requirements and Working Conditions (include if applicable):

  • The employee must occasionally lift or move office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.
  • Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.
