Job Description:
Join our team! Carlson is one of the largest retail cleaning companies in the Upper Midwest. We maintain over 240 properties in 10 states. Our headquarters is in White Bear Lake, MN, a northeast suburb of Saint Paul. This is an entry level position, however we believe in cultivating our employees' potential and promote from within.
Job Summary:
The Project Specialist performs special project work in his/her assigned area and is responsible for continuously training onsite staff on cleaning techniques to improve quality and performance. The Project Specialist works under limited supervision and in a collaborative relationship with other Carlson Building Maintenance team members. Will be paid for mileage and traveling in-between locations.
Job Tasks:
  • Responsible for project work in area stores, such as stripping and waxing floors, carpet extraction and detail work.
  • Moves from location to location, covering for onsite staff vacancies in area stores.
  • When covering for onsite staff, handles hard floor care and carpet maintenance (including stripping, waxing, buffing, shampooing, extraction & bonneting) and provides other cleaning services, such as dusting, routine restroom and other area cleaning.
  • Passes along his/her expertise to others.
  • Identifies staff development and training needs, ensuring that appropriate training is obtained.
  • Trains subordinate staff in job skills, proper cleaning methods and use of equipment, and safety practices.
  • Continually trains store leads on recoating process, correct stripping procedures and proper use of stripping equipment.

Physical Demands:
  • Ability to regularly lift 45 pounds.
  • Ability to push and pull floor cleaning equipment over concrete, tile and carpeted floors.
  • Must possess sufficient physical strength, ability and stamina to perform a variety of janitorial tasks related to care of floors.
  • Ability to work with a variety of cleaning products.
  • Ability to work night shift and/or very early morning hours as dictated by the needs of the position.
  • Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
