Position Overview

The entry-level Estimator plays an essential role in supporting the early-stage estimating process for commercial and industrial HVAC projects. This position is responsible for assisting with bid coordination, document management, material takeoffs, and proposal preparation while partnering closely with estimators and operational leadership.

This role is well-suited for someone interested in developing a long-term career within mechanical construction estimating in a dynamic, fast-moving environment.

The compensation is $18-20 per hour.


Primary ResponsibilitiesBid Coordination & Tracking
  • Identify and monitor potential project opportunities through bid platforms and invitations
  • Review incoming bid packages to determine alignment with company scope
  • Set up and maintain organized electronic project files
  • Enter project details into internal bid tracking tools and keep records current
Estimating Assistance & Quantities
  • Complete quantity takeoffs for ductwork, piping, and HVAC equipment
  • Analyze plans and specifications to understand project requirements
  • Support pricing efforts by coordinating with vendors and subcontractors
  • Input collected data into estimating spreadsheets and tools
Proposal Preparation
  • Help compile and format bid submissions and proposal documents
  • Coordinate internal feedback and revisions prior to submission
  • Submit completed bids through required systems or platforms
  • Maintain records of all bid communications and documentation
Bid Follow-Up & Reporting
  • Track project outcomes (awarded, declined, or pending)
  • Assist with follow-up communication on submitted bids
  • Keep estimating logs and tracking tools accurate and up to date
Project Transition Support
  • Organize documentation for successful bids
  • Assist in transferring project information to the project management team
  • Help ensure a smooth transition from estimating to execution

Basic Qualifications

Required:

  • Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Willingness or ability to interpret construction drawings

Preferred:

  • 0-2 years of experience in construction, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or a related field
  • Familiarity with HVAC or mechanical systems
  • Experience using Bluebeam or similar software
  • Exposure to bid platforms such as BuildingConnected, PlanHub, or Procore
  • Experience with takeoff or estimating tools
