About WABI:
WABI TV5 first signed on in January 1953, becoming Maine's first television station. It has long been the news leader for eastern and central Maine. The station is located at 35 Hildreth Street in Bangor and has a bureau in Waterville, Maine.
Job Summary/Description:
WABI TV is looking for a self-motivated, trainable, individual to help our sales team grow revenue! This unique Media Executive is an entry-level, development role designed to build future Media Executives. This position begins as a cold call/appointment-setting specialist, responsible for prospecting and scheduling qualified meetings for senior Media Executives. Over time, the Junior Media Executive will shadow experienced sellers, learn consultative media selling, and progress toward managing an independent book of business.
Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: (3 Phases)
Phase 1 - Cold Call Expert / Appointment Setting (Primary Focus):
• Conduct high-volume outbound prospecting (cold calls, email follow-up, light social outreach) to local advertisers.
Phase 2 - Shadowing & Sales Development:
• Shadow Media Executives on discovery calls, client meetings, and proposal presentations.
• Learn product offerings across broadcast and digital advertising solutions (as applicable), including key value propositions and common client use cases.
Phase 3 - Emerging Media Executive (Growing Own List):
• Begin managing a small portfolio of accounts and/or a defined territory/category.
Qualifications/Requirements:
• 0-2 years of professional experience; sales, call center, customer service, or hospitality experience is a plus.
• Comfort with high-volume outbound calling and rejection; resilience and coachability.
• Strong verbal communication and active listening skills.
• Organized and detail-oriented; able to manage activity goals and follow a repeatable process.
• Basic computer proficiency and willingness to learn CRM and sales tools.
