Arcadis is actively seeking an entry-level Electrical Engineer (Power) with 0-3 years of experience to join our Water Business Area team in Columbus, OH; Detroit, MI; or Akron/Toledo, OH. May 2027 graduates are encouraged to apply.

This is an exciting opportunity for an Electrical Engineer, with consulting engineering experience, to join our team and be involved in a variety of electrical engineering tasks for Municipal and Industrial water / wastewater projects; such as those regarding design, analysis, and layout of power distribution systems, standby power systems, lighting systems, data communications, equipment relay logic, and instrumentation and controls systems, with support from one of the best-qualified consulting firms in the country and a strong nationally recognized technical staff. 

Role accountabilities:

As an entry-level Electrical Engineer, you will contribute to a diverse range of electrical design projects, with a primary focus on municipal water and wastewater treatment facilities and their associated electrical systems. 

In this role, you will 

  • Define design criteria, performing detailed calculations, and developing key deliverables such as one-line diagrams, control schematics, plans, and specifications. Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit is essential, as these tools will be integral to the design and execution of electrical systems for engineering and construction projects.
  • Prepare construction cost estimates, conducting code compliance reviews, performing field investigations, and drafting technical reports and memorandums. 
  • During the construction phase, you will provide critical engineering support, including reviewing equipment submittals, shop drawings, and responding to contractor RFIs (Requests for Information).

This position demands a results-driven, client-focused professional with excellent written and verbal communication skills, a collaborative mindset, and a strong work ethic. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, ensuring seamless coordination with engineers from various disciplines throughout the project lifecycle. Your ability to manage responsibilities effectively and maintain a high standard of performance will be instrumental in delivering successful project outcomes. A solid understanding of AutoCAD and Revit, along with proficiency in the use of MS Office applications, is also important for success in this role.

Qualifications & Experience:

Required Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or electrical engineering technology, or a closely related field of study. 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Working to obtain or obtained Professional Engineer License  
  • Experience in W/WW Electrical Engineering design.
  • Experience with electrical engineering and design activities, (i.e. - power and standby power systems, lighting and motor control systems design). 
  • Knowledge of Instrumentation, PLC controls and SCADA network architecture. 
  • Active participation in regional and/or national professional associations.

Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
